Ultimately everything in foreign policy is about leverage a country holds.

coming to this specific point, it may take a year or two to find out what exactly this move means. But if we were to gaze thru the crystal, simplest explanation would be that US wants this chap to be there in Washington. by extension, this implies a segment (if not all) of Washington's foreign policy continue to have an interest in Kashmir. Blinken might be a good foreign policy practitioner, but he too will have to answer to lobby groups.
Blinken is a seasoned diplomat. He's practical and reasonable when it comes to tempering the demands of various lobbies. However, there is only as much that he can do. Why? Because Kamala Harris and Joe Biden came to power (as much as it seems ridiculous) due to the votes of a combination of Liberal elitists, Jihadi radicals, Khalistani sympathizers & Pakistan's diaspora and lobby groups.

It is quite impressive that despite such lack of financial heft, economic clout or military relevance, Pakistan is able to retain a nexus against us; a country whose demographic is one of the most powerful in the US, monetarily, socially & very active politically. One look at the profiles of the various power brokers and it is clear that there are more pro-Modi govt than the "South Asian" libbus, despite the contrary image they portray.

There is simply no reason for approving Masood Khan's appointment as the ambassador than to send a message here - "you back us & we might be benign". Khan is not going to sit quietly once he enters the office. He has been designated as a diplomat for a reason and that is to rile up the issue so much that the US becomes like the UK vis-a-vis India.

Expect a lot of muck in the coming days. Which is why my concern is whether Jaishankar has an army ready to counter him diplomatically. He's going to need a lot of firepower in coming days dealing with the Big 3 countries, especially as the Ukraine Crisis worsens.

S. jaishankar and anthony blinken (current US secretary of state) negotiated Indo-US nuclear deal, both were reporting directly with their respective PM and president. S jaishankar was reporting directly to MMS bypassing foreign ministry and blinken to Bush.

Nothing impressive about Pakistan. An India under a Nationalist Hindu PM and party is not something that west wants. The ultra-left BIF and their chain of lobbies, think-tanks and media, with lot of cash from China and Soros type individuals will fight it out to undermine and remove the BJP Govt. Since PAK's interest is aligning with their interest, they are in the same boat. The BIF has hold over PAK. Not the other way around. ISI's connections with local PFI, SDPI and ability to instigate trouble domestically makes PAK a bitch of the BIF

You speak the bitter truth. India and Indians are just too naive to think that there are no threats inside the country, despite them raising their ugly heads multiple times. Fighting India from outside is not an option for most countries, so they use their agents of chaos from within.

Our archaic NAM mentality is that we need to delink trade, military, internal & external affairs as silos operating within their own domains. This is no longer feasible. These 4 ministries need to be working hand in glove & sharing information. Not just meetings between their heads but having regular connect between the functionaries of these departments is as crucial as the creation of Integrated Theatre Commands in the military.

The old concept of 'cultural linkages' & 'people to people connect' are no longer the sole bridges that countries want. They want financing for infrastructure, reliable weapons supply, liberalized trade agreements & intelligence sharing to secure their borders.

Piyush Goyal, Jaishankar & Amit Shah should hold monthly/quarterly tri-ministry meetings to analyze the foreign interventions, NGO/foundations, & the level of activities going on in world powers against India, and develop an action plan to counter them. Target these countries by hitting them where it hurts; weaponize economies, dislodge their non-governmental groups, remind them that they are in India because of the government's wishes.

If this tri-ministerial format was in place, the Twitter fiasco could have been used as an example for other corporations. But the PR advisors to Nadda, PM and Shah saw the loss of twitter as a win for the internal 5th column media, since the Union ministers would have lost their direct connect with millions of Indians.

This brings us to the conclusion that the media should be controlled more severely, and should be liberally punished for spreading anything that wrongfully causes panic or mass hate in the country. Freedom of Expression needs to be quantified, documented & structured with caveats. It does not have to be overt, but there are definitely several laws that can be used to "deal with" the rogue elements in the MSM.

We have much to learn from China, Russia, Turkey and Israel.

In my view Blinken is the only one who is keeping the murican foreign policy from falling apart.
It's already fallen apart. Nobody in Europe trusts him and they are all dealing with Russia independently. Biden is completely out of the picture. We are being bombarded with propaganda about "imminent invasion" into Ukraine almost hourly. nobody buys it

The chasm between India and OIC will get wider. We need to do a few things:

1) Chip away at OIC by pulling out Gulf countries
2) Influence Central Asian 'Stans to dissociate from it.

And we need to start prying the Arabs away from there. How? I don't know yet. Gulf countries seem to be eager to shed their image of being members of a common religious brotherhood, if it gets them good trade, influence, and keeps their regimes intact.

The 'Stans also don't really care as they are relatively isolated. Most of their ministers and leaders just nod for the free hospitality and fun.

Yesterday EAM cancelled his visit to Palestine.
"Found dead" raises a lot of questions. Seems more like he was assassinated rather than dying naturally.
Why would a legal representative be assassinated?

The US readout and the Chinese readouts are quite different, it seems.
