FD (FeiDun, Flying Shield)2000, export variation of HQ-9.

Translation:
FD 2000 is an advanced long range, all altitude, air-defence/anti-missile system. The system can be operated under environment of massive air raid and heavy electronic jamming. It can shoot down various incoming targets including cruise missiles ( 7-24 KM), A-S missiles (7-50 KM), planes (7-125 KM), JDAM bombs and tactic ballistic missiles (7-25 KM). In its brochure, CPMIEC claims "FD-2000 is mainly used for airforce or air defense force to protect vital political, military and economic target", "it can also be integrated into other air defense systems to form a multi-layer AD system and realize theatrical air defense".

Gud for many countries like Pakistan and North Korea..

I had changed the title to make it event independent, no malicious intent. Use this thread for all future developments on this system

The HQ-9 missile has a reported range of 200km which is bunk just by looking at it, reality is 80% of the 150km range of S-300PMU1. The tracking range is only 90km so it isn't nearly as effective as reported. APA says the basic tech was licensed transfer from Russia so half of it wasn't even their creation.

From APA :

There is general agreement in open sources that the HQ-9 uses Russian S-300PMU technology extensively, including the cold launch design for vertical ejection from launcher tubes on TELs, 5V55/48N6 rocket motor technology, and a range of other S-300PMU components, including an 8 x 8 four tube TEL modelled on the 5P85SU/DU series. Some sources claim the weapon uses a two stage arrangement akin to the S-300V, imagery shows these claims to be incorrect. Slant range performance figures also vary across sources, between 50 and 100 nautical miles. What data is available suggests a missile which is similar in capability to early variants of the MIM-104 Patriot and SA-10B 48N6E, including Track via Missile (TVM) guidance.
even TEL is copied , or it's licensed manufactured :notsure:

It is coming out that a lot of what China is blamed for copying was actually bought outside reported channels. It really brings into question their ability to develop indigenous products.

FD 2000 was also displayed in 2010 Zhuhai airshow. There was an interview with the chief designer of the system published in a magazine. One major difference between FD2000 and S300 is that FD2000 uses active radar homing guidance which is more advanced and only adopted by S400 but not S300. The missile is also smaller/shorter than S300. According to the designer, the range from the launcher and the target is about 200km at that time (which means the distance measured on ground is less than 200km depending on the height of the target) . This APA article is full of errors.
