First time in public and IronFist16First time live firing of the Akash??..........umm no.
R-73 did failed to home into flare. Apparently seeker failed. But this is normal. Some missiles from lot are dud. It happens regularly, specially so if it is a Russian (not blaming them of course). Sadly fate picked one on this bright day to make it all so gloomy.does tajas failed both missiles tests ??
LCA has hit its targets with R-73 many times over. It's proven. A dud missile is not something to blame on Tejas. If it had not got close to parachute then there must have been some problem with HMSD. But since it did, apparently it was seeker failure or flare was not producing enough heat to home into. What about Tejeas ?
Does R 73E hit the target ?
Since its performance will be under the scrutiny of foreign media especially Paki's,Chinese and potential customers.
Also, the validation of SAMs and critical Aerial maneuvers by MKI are more important than some Garuds in fancy gear.
It didn't hit the flare thsi time (it did in 2013), these things happen- that tiny flare isn't representational of a real world target. What about Tejeas ?
Does R 73E hit the target ?
The problem would be with the R-73E as to have a lock and to have been fired the HMS would have tohave worked. Without the lock on the R-73E would never havebeen fired.LCA has hit its targets with R-73 many times over. It's proven. A dud missile is not something to blame on Tejas. True! By prima facie it was a seeker failure. The problem would be with the R-73E as to have a lock and to have been fired the HMS would have tohave worked. Without the lock on the R-73E would never havebeen fired.
It's disappointing but it happens. The R-73E is a proven weapon and the LCA has fired it succesfully a number of times but there is always a risk of this sort of thing, it's unfortunate it happened during a demo.True! By prima facie it was a seeker failure.
LGB misses by few meters , R73 by some footsR-73 did failed to home into flare. Apparently seeker failed. But this is normal. Some missiles from lot are dud. Just hoping LGB made its mark as i couldn't see it while live. Can anyone confirm?
Nah, I don't think anyone will make much noise about the R-73E. if there had been an ejection or lock on issue sure but the LCA and her systems did everything correctly, the R-73E (a foreign off the shelf product) failed- just like any such system can.^^^ Few meters is ok. It's within CPE.
However R-73 brought us some really bad PR. Media is sure to beat a drum out of it and feed to its target audience.
Again, I'd say it was doubtful as the R-73E is a "customer nominated" weapon meaning any other jet the IAF may induct may be intergrated with the R-73E. The media might be dumb but they aren't dumb enough to allow for a third party weapon to tarnish the image of the LCA.Back here in India arms lobby backed media will flood pages with negative speculation, ultimately blaming Tejas and feeding it to target audience. It happens.
