Wrong information.

For the Navy,
The Rajput class destroyers were the first ships to carry Brahmos, 3 in total with a presumed 48 missiles on each.
Wrong information.

The INS Rajput had it installed for trials as it is a test ship, the same reason it fired Prithvi. The class is 30 years old and being replaced by the Kolkata class being inducted in 2015. There has been no fitting or test shots fired from the other Rajputs. No ship in the IN can fit 48 Brahmos missiles.

The Talwar class followed. 3 in total with a presumed 24 missiles in each.
8 missiles on each.

That's a total of 216 missiles(estimated operational) for the Navy.
That's a total of 24 missiles for the IN.

Upcoming fleet:
Kolkata class(Project 15A) will start coming in from 2012 and 2 more in consecutive years. So, they will each need 48 missiles, if not more. 7 ships are to be built.
Won't be ready until 2015. They each get 8 Brahmos... not 48.

Shivalik class(Project 17). 12 of them will carry Brahmos. Upgrade has not begun yet with the existing ships.
Not part of this discussion.

Project 17A and Project 15B will carry Brahmos II, so it's moot to the discussion.
What it WILL carry is moot to the discussion because we are talking about what has already been delivered. Not the backlog of the order book.

For the Army,
The first regiment of the Army has 67 Block I missiles with 67 more in reserve. Meaning these are not carried to the battlefield and will be transported as and when needed. That's a total of 134 already active missiles.
The regiment only has 48-60 missiles. They don't hold reserve missiles as it is a waste of money having them rot in storage. They only have an 8 year canister life.

The second regiment could already have 67 Block II missiles operational since the regiment has been raised. So, expect the next batch of 67 to follow within 2 years end along with the orders for 3rd regiment. All this while building missiles for Talwar classs and Kolkata class ships at the same time.
It takes years for them to raise a regiment which shows just how slow production is.

So, do the math.
Like your math of 48 missiles per boat?

As for Air force version, it has not even been flight tested, so serial production is moot as of now.
Already said it...

Guess I have to say "No" to each point.

8 missiles on each.
Only the first Rajput has inclined launchers and the tests were carried out using 4 launchers with 1 missile each. But that was 2005. Now they have 2 launchers with 4 missiles in each.

Anyway I was a little off with the Rajput class. It isn't 3 but 4 ships which have the Brahmos VLS system. Apart from the Talwar class.

That's a total of 24 missiles for the IN.
On each Frigate. Yes. Did you know the AB destroyers carry 4 reloads of AShMs. Ever heard of cranes.

The regiment only has 48-60 missiles. They don't hold reserve missiles as it is a waste of money having them rot in storage. They only have an 8 year canister life.
Yes and Sarkozy is Japanese. Don't talk of stuff which is so easily available in open source. Google 134 Brahmos and Indian Army.

They hold reserve missiles simply because it is protocol. It's like soldiers carrying extra ammo apart from the cartridge in the rifle.

Perhaps it is impossible for you believe because the ships and the missile aren't French. BTW, it is 10 years for Brahmos, same as the Exocet.

It takes years for them to raise a regiment which shows just how slow production is.
3 years for the first one and 1 year six months for the second. Not bad even by American standards.
Funnily enough googling "ahead of schedule" with "Brahmos" and "Indian army" gives the 2nd regiment induction.

The orders for the 2nd regiment was given only in 2010. After the first regiment with 134 missiles was fully inducted.

Like your math of 48 missiles per boat?
Haha. Ever heard of magazine.

On a more general note, AFAIK, Brahmos production was supposed to be in three phases. First phase is already completed. Second phase construction has already begun while land acquisition for third phase has begun.

News from 2007

India steps up production of Prithvi and BrahMos - Times Of India
Sources said facilities were now in place to produce around 20 Prithvi missiles every year, while the annual production rate of BrahMos missiles is geared towards touching 50 in the near future.
@plugwater

Are you certain about the delay with Kolkata class? The last I heard there was only cost escalation, but no major delays. IMO, the 2015 figure has not been official. Is there an actual paper with the news or some reputed blogger?

NTI: Global Security Newswire - India Prepares for Trial of Advanced Agni 2 Missile

Meanwhile, the Indian military is now fielding a new regiment of short-range BrahMos cruise missiles that can travel at supersonic speeds to precisely hit targets at a maximum distance of approximately 187 miles, the Times of India reported on Thursday (see GSN, Aug. 15). The missile has been modified in some cases to accommodate a nuclear warhead, according to previous reports (Vinod Nayanar, Times of India, Nov. 10).

Saya, the answer lies in the production speed, the initial speed of production was 5-10 per year, it has now reached to 100 per year. Now we will see speedier induction

Brahmos achieves Mach 6.5 speed during test

Brahmos achieves Mach 6.5 speed during test - India News - IBNLive

Chennai: The latest version of Indo-Russian Brahmos cruise missile has achieved a speed of Mach 6.5 during experiments at Hyderabad and the target is to achieve Mach 7, a top DRDO official said in Chennai on Monday.
"Experiments are being done in Hyderabad. We have completed tests up to Mach 6.5," BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director A Sivathanu Pillai said in Chennai.
The target is to achieve Mach 7, he said.

BrahMos is a cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land.
Inaugurating an International Research Centre developed by Sathyabama University and Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research in Chennai, Pillai said nanotechnology is the buzzword in the future and several countries were investing into it.
"Over 70 billion US dollars are being spent in this field. Once, this technology is commercialised, it will generate over $ 3 trillion per year," the DRDO scientist said.
Nanotechnology will be a boon for the health sector especially to tackle diseases like Alzheimer's.
The government has formed a nanotechnology mission and a centre in Bangalore is being upgraded for this, Pillai said.

Agni 5 is a regular ballistic missile. I believe even Agni 3 with its full range crosses mach 5.
