Lucknow: An Indian Army Major was killed while practicing bomb disposal near Jhansi on Wednesday morning.
Major Ashish Kumar Rai was practicing at Babina Range, near Jhansi when one of the bombs did not go off. After waiting for some time, Major Rai led a team to inspect the bomb. Unfortunately, the bombwent off as soon as they approached it and Major Rai was killed in the incident.
Major Rai hailed from Patna, Bihar and was posted at Meerut. He had come to Jhansiin a training camp. His family has been informed about the incident.

When a bomb/ shell does not explode, then you have to wait 30 minutes, before the next procedure begins.

A very unfortunate incident, but it can happen.

All bombs of the same LOT will possibly be segregated, inspected by MARS and then declared serviceable/ UNSV.
