Various people say that arjun mk 2 is too much heavy to crawl on the deserts on thar, but ground pressure of mk2 is lower than m1a2 abrams and they have performed well in the deserts of iraq

Source : http://drdo.res.in:8080/alpha/drdo/English/mbt.html

==========

MK2 has better ground pressure than M1A2 and Russian T-90 so does Indian T-90, Arjun is meant to operate over Muddy rise fields of Punjab ..

@Kunal Biswas,What is the exact ground pressure of the Arjun MBT in kg/cm²? Some websites have given 0.95 kg/cm² which translates to 13.5 PSI according to .

Mr. Jaitley as a new Defence Minister, would you please end this debate.

Army is behaving like spoilt sport child. It does not know the virtues of what they have in their hand but wish to have more. This mk2 and mk1 should form the strike corp of the Indian army. No Pakistani tank including their T -85 or locally made in Pakistan can touch Arjun Tank. So what is Army doing to have one trials after another.

I am very sure that if Indian Army is given Abraham tank with its name plate and country of origin removed, they will find faults with it.

Some faults belong in GSQR. The way it is written in an open season for fault finding and easy access to bribe money.

Mr. Defence Minister, please end this debate, now.

ARDE called in a tender for CLGM parts last December. We should probably start seeing some serious CLGM tests before year end and integration with Arjun following that.

So, are you suggesting that: with lower ground pressure, this 58.5 tons tank can drive through those Indian bridges which were designed and built for maximum 40 tons?
Yes. A bridge designed for 40 ton multi axle wheeled vehicle can support a tracked vehicle of weight 70 tons (IRC Class AA bridge/new standard Class 70R). The bridges as a part of NH and SH network are designed as per standards of IRC Class AA/ Class 70R.

The problem lies with MDRs and rural roads, the Class A and Class B bridges on which won't support T-series tanks either.

I should add another point, 1400hp used in MK1, But Tubro charged 1400Hp used in MK2 ..

Tubro Charge gives 30% more power for MK2 ..

=============================

Bottom line is 1400hp engine is tuned for MK2, It provides good speed and acceleration which are no disadvantages ..
Wouldn't addition of turbo-charger result in increase power?

In other words, a naturally aspirated 1400 hp, would yield 1400+ hp at the same RPM, if a turbo-charger is added.

The specification i have provided is of MK1 ..

MK2 has indeed higher HP than MK1 ..

No, a turbo is a torque multiplier. The transmission will have to be redone if you want more HP after a turbo.

engineer!!! :rolleyes:

120mm thermobaric + fragmentation round for Arjun being tested.
@Twinblade

Where did you get this from tb?
Annual report video of DRDO. I downloaded it for an image/video of Arihant, it had three fake images/videos of arihant and this was the only thing worthwhile in it. The length at which they are going to obscure Arihant from public is ridiculous :)
