Read the original article . Here are the imp points.

1.It has been explicitly mentioned that they MIGHT roll out the first prototype in 2026. The key word here is MIGHT.

2. ADA plan to build five prototypes / LSP and complete the test phase within a period of 10 years. This part of the program will cost Rs 15000 crore.

Meaning if first flight happens in 2027, then we'll do the math .

3. Each prototype will cost us Rs 900 crores. The series production acs will be cheaper than this.

4. The detailed design phase is over. Detailed design of the approx 15000 components that will go into AMCA is complete.


May the good God help us and IAF if the first prototype actually rolls out in 2026.
It's imperative IAF go for off the shelf purchase of around 60 fifth gen jets before AMCA gets IOC and enters operational service. Coz , the way things are headed, AMCA mk1 won't be operational before 2035 if the dates mentioned here are to be believed.

They wasted time by not investing in the development of tejas aswell as keeping IAF in a dream of getting 126 rafale fighters for which they didn’t even had the money for.

Even that's doubtful.

Prototype rollout was supposed to be around 2024 now out of the blue it's 2026.

Worse 2026 is not a set year but a might happen year so chances are this could drag itself all the way into 2027-29.

At this rate 2035-37 seems to be much accurate figure.
