But the majority of the Pakistanis call it a Pakistani tank, and the best tank in the world, and whatnot. You admitted it, you're sane, many others aren't.
The project initiated by China during 80s but Pakistan came with the proposal for this mbt in 1991, project code name P90. So two projects went simultaneously as both China and Pakistan needed a new weapon system to fulfill their requirements. Obviously, China has more expertise in designing an mbt since 1960s so they helped us to a great deal but the original tank had serious issues with Chinese engine and transmission. Many of their sub systems at that time, were below par.

What is not well known is the fact that Pakistan developed many R&D facilities in Taxila for the purpose of absorbing the tank technology, along with designing and assembling various sub systems such as composite armour, main gun (125 mm/ 120 mm, 105 mm respectively). China went ahead with their own requirements for a medium mbt (T98\ 99) and we opted for a further improved Type 90IIM.

Four prototypes were developed as per Pakistani specifications, the fourth one had our own developed 120 mm smoothbore gun along with LSG 3000 auto transmission for those customers who prefer higher western subsystems. Al Khalid is very different from MBT 2000 in many areas. The notion that we only integrate western/ foreign subsystems in AK is wrong. Today, AK stands as: composite armour, chassis, gun, tracks, electronics, airconditioning, digital driver panel. IIT system, LWS and LTS, BMS, datalink, optics, all of which are indigenous.

Fair enough. A Chinese chassis, with at least 30-40% Pakistani subsystems.

i guess this is the 4th i Am telling you this.

The specs i posted are of the French gun(blanks were imported from France and rest of work was done in HMC) on older AK

the locally manufactured gun official specs are not available yet and that is the one we got assistance from Ukraine

now every process regarding the gun manufacturing is done at home.

The gun on the basic AK was French not Ukrainian

There is no such think as "indigenous to Pakistan", it's a myth. It is probably based on kba-3 or some chinese gun manufactured under ToT in pakistan.

The gun of Basic AL KHALID
No more in production(earlier only blanks were imported from france)

Pakistan have good conection with China, I'am more than sure that Pakistani 125mm smoothbores are ZPT-98 derivatives, and ZPT-98 is nothing more than a 2A46M clone.
well as per nabil the gun is modified/based on ukrainian,
and nt even the basic variant of AK use chinese Gun

the the basic AK till now used french gun
while AK1 is using the locally manufactured

If You say that it is all based on Ukrainian, then definetly KBA3 gun is a base for Pakistani developments. And KBA3 was designed by Ukrainians with help from France, so everything fits perfectly.

It Should sound more like Ordnance length rather than barrel length..

And it should be barrel weight rather than Ordinance weight..

Max Chamber pressure is just 575mpa, not 650mpa..?

his words on pak ukrainian relations(defence related) as well on the gun

Buddy, i tell you that the gun which is a Pakistani
modified version of Ukrainian KBA-3 gun,
developed with French assistance is already too
powerful to drill through many famous.....u know
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i guess this is the 4th i Am telling you this.

The gun on the basic AK was French not Ukrainian
The above explains..

while this picture was uploaded by bezerk in 2009 After scanning the brochure
2nd page
http://www.-----------/forums/pakis...ries-taxila-weapons-guide-specifications.html

while the first 100% manufactured local was done in 2011 April

a Possible slight RESEARCH THAN blindly calling something as inferior.the locally produced just 1 year before while the older French gun After getting the blanks of rest of work was done in HIT and the specs in the above brochure are of that older gun

while the locally produced gun was in 2011

i hope you know the difference between 2009(only the time of uploading the brochure.the process was done since 2004) and 2011(local manufactured gun

Guy, my passport says Republique Francais on it and we develop 95% of our military. In fact, we are the most independent MIC in Europe and only behind USA.

Arjun is something like 51% foreign and 49% indigenous... that is a far higher ratio than Al Kahlid is to Pakistan. All the components produced in Pak are ToT from China.
well i thought your Indian as your Reply approach is similar to them

plz name those thing we make under tot from China
and the Mbt2000 was a jv which was further upgraded into al khalid series by Pakistan and China by vt1 SERIES

you cant give whole credit to China

this was just to show you that the brochure is older
and the latest gun was manufactured only last year

and we dont need to clone
with Ukrainian help around and local efforts the insider source of it being even slightly over than 50 cal. And max chamber pressure of 6700bar

while the AK2 might incorporate a even powerfull gun
