Japan did eventually send their foreign minister. He came in the next day for the QUAD summit.

QUAD

The message here basically was that they are concerned with engaging us only when it comes to countering the CCP. G20 will be kept on back burner until the Russia-Ukraine war gets resolved as per their wishes.

I don’t have very high expectations from them given how the Americans control their political positions. But there’s definitely a step-down from the days of Shinzo Abe, when Japan was almost completely planning to overshadow our other partners.

I wonder why he does not want to attend it in India. We are not signatories to the ICC and he will have a full security cover. Does he plan to win the war before leaving the country ever?

Dude is scared of assassination by foreign secret service and even more importantly coup. He has created multiple power centers in Russia (warlords like Kadyrov, Prigozhin, etc, oligarchs, secret service and many more), he used to play them against each other to maintain power. Now many of them are unhappy with him.

Makes sense.

Apparently, once he wins this war (Russia is logically and most definitely winning it by retaining the territories it captured), he feels that he would be popular enough locally to ensure the continuity of his reign and then he can travel around.

Putin is a master tactician; he thinks five steps ahead. There is a reason why he reigns with such control and most likely he might want to install his successor (Medvedev most likely) after securing his victory.

Views of many G20 countries towards India. Global decline, Europe mostly unfavorable except UK and a couple of others. To be expected given India's assertive foreign policy. No longer the good boys who will toe the line.

What I was surprised by is the negative image in Brazil and South Africa. This can be attributed to them viewing us through the Anglo-Saxon lenses rather than their own. Our presence has only started to grow in Latin America in the last 2 years, and the language barrier further adds to the unknown.

Who cares what the Europeans think of us? We also find them as a bunch of over-sexed freaks with no culture and an identity crisis.

Reason can be otherwise too, like POTUS Biden will also be sharing the same stage along with a few other anti-China western leaders.
Nope. This is targeted at us. The CCP released another map claiming Arunachal and Aksai Chin as theirs. Not only that, they also claimed Malaysian, Bruneian, Filipino and Vietnamese oceanic territory as theirs.

If you notice all the concluded G20-related summits on various fields such as tourism, trade, business, etc., have all been hobbled by the Chinese on frivolous grounds. And now this.

They want to make us look bad. We should hammer them from now on even more. Undercut them everywhere and in every forum. Xi is not going to listen to reason.
