There is nothing to break head. A rough way to describe power is : Power = constant x speed x torque For same power, if speed increases, torque decreases and vice versa I think its best to end the physics discussion here

Here is the RFI for the Bharat power pack engines as given in idrw website : http://idrw.org/cvrde-invites-bids-development-supply-1500-hp-engine-power-arjun-mk-ii/

I have also answered as to why one heavy diesel engine can be converted to other easily by minor modifications and hence the minor differences in torque which you are so emphasising may not matter much. It is definitely better to make exact torque speed balance than to put gears but that is...

I have edited my previous comment. I posted it by writing little details initially as I had to go somewhere. But I got a chance to come back and hence edited my comment to make it more logical. But by the time I completed editing, you had posted another comment. Kindly take a look at my edited...

Power can be converted to torque. A 1000RPM wheel if geared to give 10 RPM, its torque will increase. Power can be converted to speed or to torque. But that will need high end gears. Diesel, by default has lower speed as diesel is a slow combustion fuel. You can't ignite a vessel full if...

Power is converted to torque by gear mechanism. So, power is what matters

Is it 1400HP or 1500HP or 2000HP? Did you ask about its horsepower?

I think the Barath powerpack is 1500HP, not 1400HP

Are there many canals in these places? Is there any effective opposition army to oppose? So, when there is nothing to fight back, US can afford to do anything and yet win.

I am not sure why India can't make a decent engine for defence. Will you import soldiers too? Why not do that too? Ashok leyland has indigenous h series engines. Tata also has indigenous tata-cummins engine. In the 80s, both Al and Tata took engine technology from foreign manufacturers. AL...

I dare if USA can take on Saudi Arabia. Then you will understand what I am saying. USA can only beat up isolated small and weak countries. Iraq was defeated due to Saudi help. Also, Abrams run on Honeywell engines, not MTU. Finally, USA hasn't had a need to cross canals too often. Iraq...

To win wars tanks must be capable of crossing bridges. That is, without collapsing the bridge! The weight limit is 60 tons

Isn't diesel engine made out of simpler items than jet engine? Can't India simply reverse engineer the MTU design itself by breaking it open and understanding the blueprint? If MTU is good enough, why not reverse engineer the exact same engine as an exact replica? We are not going to show it to...

Bharat power pack is an absolute essential. If that is in design stage, our scientists are the most useless bunch. I can't understand why we can't fast track a mere tank engine. If we can't do even this or the HTSE engines, what good are we in designing Kaveri engines? Without indigenous engine...

Lol. I think Arjun will be completed in a sane manner by 2019 - 20. The army purposefully kept adding weight to it just to reject it. It knew perfectly well that pakistan has dug canals and the tanks need to cross bridges.

Don't blame IA. Do you remember how VK Singh was pissed off and shot off an open letter to MMS? It was the congress that was working under the behest of Saudis and ISI that weakened India purposefully

It is unlikely that a scientist has come after you. It could be someone else trying to make fun.

It will take at least upto 2018 to get a new tank. Maybe Arjun will be redesigned into Arjun Mk3 to get a light weight tank. One has to be patient and not rush for new information every now and then. Also, maybe they are waiting for new indigenous engine to be fully functional.

Haven't the pakistanis dug a lot of tunnels near Indian borders so as to prevent Indian tanks from crossing over? That is the reason why the tank has to be light enough to cross a bridge which has to be laid out. What I don't understand is why is the unrealistic expectations of extra armour...
