    For those who don't know ... HSR tickets are not issued on a specific train on a specific route... They are issued between stations and hence provide major flexibility (ofcourse some seats can be booked as well) and the trains can be taken with a high frequency

    One thing... These stretches will come up only when the local economies become strong enough...or the lines will be loss making....Kolkata stretch will be the very last .. as the economy is in ruins. The next lines are Delhi-Jaipur / Banglore Hyd/ and some time next decade Indore - ahbd.

    Just one point. The trains are hardly if even gonna be taken end to end ..... they will be taken in stretches where time/cost ratio is justified so they will connect intermediate stops.

    Exactly. MP has the land and BJP guv. and pro BJP people. It's Maharashtra that's unpredictable. anyway Indore is still a decade away from needing a bullet train connection. The construction should begin at 2024 and end at 2026 for Indore- Ahmdbad. at 2800 INR this is gonna be a grand success

    apart from the above point, it may be that YOUR technology needs some parameters that ONLY you can understand, like terrain etc. So you can do the report and we can decide if India can afford it or not.

    High speed rails will share almost nothing with the current India Rail system. maybe a dedicated platform at a station but nothing else. and development of both must be side by side. It takes years to make these systems. and we simply cannot wait for all railway problems to be solved first...
