This dislike originated around 1970s. Situation was radically different in 1940s.

Ever heard about the Direct Action Day or the Great Kolkata Killings? Bengali Muslims were hardcore supporters of Pakistan, while they were butchering Hindus on streets of Kolkata, they hadn't imagined that their presumably taller and fairer brethren from the west would start looking down upon them and then 1971 happened.

Had it not been up to the likes of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the 30% Hindu population of United Bengal would have met the same fate as the Hindus in West Pakistan. Jinnah was adamant at having Kolkata as part of East Pakistan.

Not thin air, I suspect plucked it out of somewhere else!

When the Muslims were on the runs after the tide of killings were on Hindu's favor... then came Gandhi with fasting at Beleghata to stop the killings.... else Muslims would have been wiped out from Calcutta...

After the surrender of Pakistan, the Indian Army provided protection to the Pakistani PoWs. This was a necessity as per international law. The Indian military is bound by the acceptable conduct of war.

It will be fair to say that both Muslim League and Congress were responsible for partition...

I would not tag whole of Hindus with the Congress as there was also an alternative thinking for independence ...

No one is tagging the whole of Hindus with the Congress. Neither is the whole of Congress responsible for Partition. As one member pointed out, the Hindutwavadi members of Congress and Muslims League were responsible for Partition.
