@raja696 You don't but that is the hand government is dealt with.

A democratic government will be judged on different standards vis a vis insurgents whether you like it or not. A military solution to a political problem will never work. Urban Naxalis provide breathing room to armed insurgents and the only way to choke them is through electoral processes.

Commies are running helter skelter as the number of people who believe in their narrative is dwindling faster than they expected.

Yup in that case government has done good work regarding banning ngos or demonitisation. That really worked well.
As you said naxals and urban communists go complimentary and support each other to sustain. We have to take over atleast one side, with legal action on urban naxals or instensify combing operations. regularly attack them irrespective of intelligence to negate forest access as safe heaven to them.

Actually I dont disagree with you, dont you think we crossed that stage to make them come back in to mainstream with all that packages available to them all round year to surrender.

After our intelligence agencies confirmed the deep nexus between terrorists from pak, north east terrorists (with chinese support) and these so called adhivasi naxals devised alliance to defeat Indian democracy. Can we convince them to mingle with docile form mainstream life.

But my view is that ur suggestion is age old policy which is not enough, we have to carry it on to next level by adding few if's, but's to bring out there confessions true.

@raja696 Yes I agree, policies need to be tweaked. It is the sheer incompetence of successive governments & security agencies that Naxalism is still alive. The absurd knee jerk reactions like 2000 "commandos" will now take part in operations in an area which spans lakhs & lakhs of square kilometers.

India has good templates for fighting insurgency. One is that of Sri Lankan LRP units and another one is of Task Force Black in Iraq. Instead of diving head first in jungles, intelligence based operations targeting higher ups should have had taken place. Sadly the clowns running these operations are still rooted in the post WW2 tactics.

Now coming to foreign support. Crying foul is useless. As far as Naxals are concerned, the only support they are getting from outside is moral support. There are anywhere between 6000-10000 active armed Naxals. Had they been armed & trained in the lines of Jihadi, you & I would have been looking at similar casualties that Pakis suffered in 1971 or worse.

Chhattisgarh: In major CRPF triumph, 20 Naxals killed in Bijapur encounter
3 minutes
SOURCE: FE

In major operations against Maoists, 20 Naxalites were killed by security agencies in Chattisgarh’s Bijapur on Sunday. “About 350 jawans part of the Operation, first time saw Maoists wearing COBRA uniform, 20 naxals have been killed in Operation,” IG, CRPF was quoted as saying by ANI. This comes days after 25 men of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were martyred in a deadly attack by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma area.

The encounter originally took place two days ago, i.e. Sunday. Two police personnel were also reported killed in the encounter. The injured men reportedly belong to the District Reserve Group (DRG). ANI reported that Indian Air Force evacuated the two injured personnel and airlifted them to Ramakrishna hospital in Raipur.

The encounter, which apparently looks as a major success, came weeks after 25 CRPF jawans were killed in Sukma district. Earlier this month, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh pitched for an aggressive strategy to combat the naxal issue. “We have to bring aggression in our policy, there should be aggression in our thinking, aggression in our strategy, aggression in the deployment of security forces, aggression in operations, aggression in bringing development, aggression in road construction,” Singh said. Singh also asked states affected by left-wing extremism to take ownership of the anti-naxal operations.

In another Maoist encounter in the state, a Naxallite carrying a reward of Rs 16 lakh on his head, was killed in an encounter with the police in Bastar district, news agency Press Trust of India reported. The report said that the maoist identified Vilas alias Kailash alias Aaytu, the secretary of Barsoor area committee of Maoists, was killed in the face-off with a team of local police in Burgum police station area.

Maoist ‘nails’ DU professor, top activist

RAIPUR: A key Maoist operative, who allegedly confessed to being part of the April 24 Sukma ambush and the 2010 Tadmetla massacre, has "surrendered" to police and made claims against Delhi University professor Nandini Sundar and rights activist Bela Bhatia at a press conference in Raipur on Wednesday.

Podiyam Panda told reporters that he was the "only link" for meetings between senior Maoists and Sundar and Bhatia in South Bastar. Panda said he used to drive activists from Delhi — including Sundar and Bhatia — on a motorbike deep into forests of Sukma for meetings with top Maoists like Ramanna, Hidma (alleged mastermind of this year's deadly ambushes), Paparao Aaytu, Arjun and others
. He said he also acted as a courier for them. When contacted, Sundar said, "It's a false and coerced confession made in police custody."

In a habeas corpus filed in the Chhatisgarh high court, Panda's wife alleged that Podiyam was taken into "forced captivity" by a joint team of CRPF and district police on May 3 and was assaulted by the security personnel and demanded his "immediate production" in the court.

"He has not surrendered but has been illegally detained," sources said.

Sukma SP Abhishek Meena said, "Maoist Podiyam Panda has been serving as the main link between inner cadre of Maoists and urban network system in Delhi, Raipur and other cities. He was also involved in active warfare. In his statement to police, he said he was part of recent Burkapal incident and had fired upon CRPF jawans with an Insas rifle. Panda was also part of the deadly Tadmetla attack that killed 75 CRPF jawans

Meena said Panda surrendered on May 9 after being underground for 20 years, but this was kept a secret due to security reasons and death threats. Panda was sarpanch of Chintagufa (site of the April 24 attack) before he joined the Maoists in 1997.

His information helped police arrest eight Maoists on Tuesday, Meena added.
Panda has told police in detail how he was part of the planning and execution of the Burkapal ambush and how he helped decide the site of the attack, Meena said. Panda said during the press conference that he wanted to surrender for two years but senior cadres got wind of it and kept an eye on him. "I could surrender only after the rebels deployed to watch me got arrested in Minpa region," he said.

It was he who tipped off police about Maoists involved in the Burkapal attack living in nearby villages, aiding in their arrest, said Meena. From him, police have got vital inputs about the urban network of Maoists, along with proof of bank transactions to Maoist accounts from "influential people in Delhi", say police. Panda carried a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh and is accused in 19 cases.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...s-to-flush-out-maoists/videoshow/58712209.cms

Found this video which is supposedly of the operation which took out the 20 Naxals. DFI members , please comment on the tactics used by the COBRA's.
I thought that was a training video, more so because of bottles attached to rifles to collect empty shells.
cant watch the video, but is it the same that surfaced y'day or the day before (shot from cellphone)? if yes, then it was said to be from the actual encounter. one of the troops can be heard yelling & requesting restricted fire, to be used only if and when a target was sighted, as there was the risk of the forward party that had gone to target the maoshits being caught in friendly fire.

this is something which bankelal would call - "WWO MAARA PAAPADWAALE KO!"

two years back, one lady professor from DU itself was nabbed by Jharkhand or C'garh police alongwith her two accomplices from DU itself on the complaints of tribals and villagers. can someone pls confirm if it was nandini sundar herself?!! IIRC, she was using a pseudonym.

and gosh! bela bhatia!
watch her whine in this video i had posted earlier. poor victim of state-atrocity! :pound:

@ezsasa - this contains what i was telling you about earlier today. its a must-watch for members of this thread!

i have been able to watch it only in tidbits due to lack of time, but some highlights from what i watched a couple of days back:

- how maoists are destroying govt. schools & erecting their own, brainwashing tribal children against India and the Forces using shoddily published books

- the network of overground workers of maoists under the garb of 'social scientists', 'social workers', etc. one such hoarse (& grey-haired ugly hag, as is the norm) woman is interviewed briefly. spouts the same old atrocity-nonsense behind the menace.

- counter-view of the above is taken from tribals/villagers and its revealed that they're often tutored to speak the same tripe as mentioned above, by the maoists & their 'united tactical front' sepoys like the one mentioned. also revealed is that any officer who goes hard on the maoists is hounded by the human rights groups & overground maoist sympathisers out of the region (Mr. Kalluri being one such victim)

- Bastar division CRPF DIG Mr. P. Sundarraj is interviewed (man speaks chaste Hindi!)

please do watch....

key - DNA investigation Bastar maoists overground workers social workers Bastar DIG govt schools destruction anti-India propaganda.

Yes it was Nalini Sundar:
DU professor Nandini Sundar booked for tribal man’s murder in Chhattisgarh
They were booked under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 and 149 of IPC at Tongpal police station, the Inspector General of Police said.

Let's see what the gov. does next. I think that this government is purposefully letting the pressure build on Maoism and Kashmir separatism, so that when it acts , the support from public itself will nullify all the outrage from HR preachers within and outside the country. What do you think?

this communism jholachhaapery is perplexing! i cant understand one thing. communists of marx & communists of mao have been said to be at loggerheads ever since the Naxalbaari happenings, with police campaigns against the latter having been unleashed by the former. then why the heck do they share bonhomie at the 'tactical' level (like in, univ-politics/'urban maoism')?! matter of simply joining hands against a common 'enemy'?

It is similar to Subhash Chandra Bose's idea of freedom struggle vs Gandhi's idea of freedom struggle.

Irrespective of whichever type of commie ideology, they strive for cause of their version of "Social justice". Objective is the same, path chosen is different. Since the objective is the same, soft commies give cover to hardcore commies.

husband of nalini sunder is Siddharth Varadarajan who is an American citizen and one of the founders of that commie newspaper " The Wire " .
and the husband of Bela Bhatia is Jean Dreze, professor at Delhi school of Economics, contributor at the WIRE, drafter of NREGA
and two time member of NAC, the de-facto ruling body of India during UPA.
The rot goes very deep brother.
