52 Maoists, 94 Supporters Surrender In Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Odisha: As many as 52 Maoists and 94 of their supporters have surrendered before Malkangiri police.

This is a big blow to the Maoists as the surrenders have taken place close on the heels of the killing of at least 28 rebels in a fierce encounter with Odisha and Andhra Pradesh police on October 24 in the district, police said today.

Those who have surrendered were from Sudhakonda and Radulkonda villages under Kalimela Block and included five women and nine village committee members, police said, adding that they surrendered before Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.

They have pledged to dissociate themselves from Maoist activities and to remain in the social mainstream for the development of the backward region, the SP said.

They would be provided benefits in accordance with the state government's surrender and rehabilitation policy, Mr Mohapatra said.
Looks like those killed on Oct 24, were key cogs in the christian-naxal terror link. Take them out and the christian-naxal terror set up has started to unravel.

TERRORIST FUNDING AND RECRUITMENT IN WB, BIHAR, JHARKHAND, ORIDSHA,CHATTRARISHGARH.

**** Dear Roma, i like to inform you that Naional Highway and Railway Tracks are not safe. Many accident took place in couple of years. It has been noticed that every fatal accident happening in the city premises and outside kolkata city, many roads are not safe for long drive to Private Cars,Private Buses or other available vehicles.
It is due to fact that a kind of police serveillance is running in the National Highways. Say, NH - 34, NH - 2, NH - 6, NH - 37 etc. This national highways need secured protections from militant outfits. It has been notice accidental cases are not due to wheather poor conditions but many accidental cases was pre-planned in city roads,National Highways etc. In many cases, according to informations, accident took places due to ransom money. An unidentified groups are looking for money or demanding ransom money, if the person have legal steps against prank calls for demanding money, then few days later sudden accidental cases taking place.
Now, it is a kind of dirty game which is playing by militant organizations. In this manner, they are sending a messages of accidental fears and acute panic to many normal citizens minds.
Now, this is normal that everyday, members of the family will attained offices, markets, parties etc but due to actue panic and accidental fear they forcefully bound drop few cashes into the name of militant organizations. They are thinking that my family is safe and secured from accidental cases.
Now, you can see in our kolkata city and outside kolkata city how many peoples are attaining offices by trains, buses, autos, taxis, private cars, and small vehicles.
They are all some (less or more) paying extra money to militant organizations.
This militant organization are so alert and tagging in social networking site that every family is bound to pay extra illegal money.
They are sometimes helping to sharing family information with them. Though it is duty of local police stations, but this groups are making detached with police station and help numbers of police and will provoke a mentality around you and your family to show a nagative impact on police investigations.
This militant organization slowly accuring police administrations in own hand and making separate Govt to run economic welfare in the city. They can be so radical that sometimes stop bus services, rail services, can burn out police vehicles & private vehicles, and fatal destructions.
Roma, i just want to tell you that attrocity against police and Govt staffs can not be tolerated, it must STOP as quickly as possible.
Preventive measure should be taken to slow down illegal money business.
I just want to tell you, that, govt of west bengal must take necessary and legal steps in dominating this illegal money malfunction in Social Networking sites. If the govt of west bengal unable to take hard actions against this illfactors and can not maintained normal life in the kolkata city, then according to rules, authorities of state govt delegates should consult the matter with Central Agencies, New Delhi as early as possible.
Thats all.

If there is any group I hate more than Kashmiri separatist is Maoist-Naxals-Communist. They really need to handle with a strict hand. There should be open hunting season for these particular kind of evil. Okay fine, I agree that it is not how stuff should be dealt with. But it is so ridiculous they way these guys "Humare sir par chadh kar mootate hai".
we have all the soft corner for poor of our country and we have responsibility towards them, but having said that these people incite those poor and want to break our country apart.
I think with recent mandates, Indian population has made it clear that they will not take enough of this BS anymore.
Well thats my rant for today. :daru:

24 CRPF Personnel Die In Encounter With Maoists In Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Twelve personnel of the CRPF died and seven were injured in encounter with Maoists
Story Highlights
  • Six men were injured and they have been airlifted for treatment
  • The CRPF personnel were providing security to road construction workers
  • On 11 March, 12 CRPF men died after being ambushed by Maoists in Sukma
New Delhi:
Twenty-four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force died and six were injured in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma this afternoon. The shootout took place near Kala Pathar, near Chintagufa, around 1 pm. The men belonged to the 74 Battalion and initial reports said they were providing protection to a group of construction workers building a road and sanitising the area.

The injured men have been air-lifted and sent to Raipur and Jagdalpur for treatment. Sources in the home ministry said two of the bodies have been recovered.

Following the attack, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh cut short his visit to Delhi and rushed back to Raipur for an emergency meeting.

Sukma is part of south Bastar, which for decades has suffered the Maoist menace. On 11 March, 12 CRPF men were killed and four were injured in an ambush in Sukma. The forces were providing security cover for road construction on the Bheji-Gorkha-Injiram Axis area.

After the attack, one of the biggest in the last two years, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said it was a sign of the "frustration" of the Maoists because of the "unprecedented success" of the security operations against them.

Making a statement in Lok Sabha, the minister said last year, 135 extremists were killed, 700 were arrested, 1,198 surrendered, and there was a 15 per cent drop in the number of attacks.

Quoting local officers, news agency Press Trust of India reported that reinforcements have been rushed to the area from the nearest camp of the CRPF.

The insurgents, who say they are inspired by Chinese revolutionary leader Mao Zedong, have been fighting for more than three decades in central and eastern India, staging hit-and-run attacks to press their demand for a greater share of wealth and more jobs for the poor.

The government says the rebels are India’s biggest internal security threat. According to the Home Ministry, they operate in 20 of India’s 29 states and have thousands of fighters.

Everything else is tolerable but soldiers losing lives gets my goat.

Obviously, if such a large scale attack has happened, then they have been planning it since months. One must find the area incharge for intel gathering and pin the blame on him. At the same time, one cannot deny the 'franchise' style attack where individual attacks are sponsored by foreign elements on a de facto basis to maintain deniability.

Today itself a PDP leader has been shot dead, at the same time 24 CRPF have been shot, at the same time 100 Afghan soldiers killed 2 days ago. Clearly, someone is trying to 'communicate' with us. Our interests are being systematically hit everywhere.

Even 50 years after it began, Maoism is alive and kicking. Here’s why

Naxals traning camp in Andhra Pradesh. With 2017 marking the 50th anniversary of the Naxalite movement, security forces stationed in the so-called Red Corridor have sounded the alarm that recent attacks on security forces could signal the start of a resurgence of anti-State activity by the armed insurgents(P.Anil kumar )

It was March 1967. Poor farmers armed with lathis, bows and arrows raided the paddy granaries of jotedars at Naxalbari, situated at the tri-junction of India, Nepal and Bangladesh (then, East Pakistan).

These were small incidents but with far-reaching implications. The People’s Daily of China hailed these attacks as “a peal of spring thunder” and that “the Chinese people joyfully applaud this revolutionary storm of the Indian peasants”.

The events were mainly shaped by Charu Mazumdar, Kanu Sanyal and Jangal Santhal. Charu was the brain behind the movement, Kanu the organiser, while Santhal mobilised the tribal santhal community. The movement was crushed by the police, but its sparks flew to distant parts of India.

The Indian State could never imagine that the movement would spread across states and, at its peak, affect 200 districts in 20 states. The UPA government, on more than one occasion, described this Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) as the greatest threat to the internal security of the country.

According to latest estimates, 104 districts in 13 states are affected by the Maoist movement. With 2017 marking the 50th anniversary of the Naxalite movement, security forces stationed in the so-called Red Corridor have sounded the alarm that recent attacks on security forces could signal the start of a resurgence of anti-state activity by the armed insurgents. On March 11, 12 personnel of the CRPF were killed by Maoists in Sukma of Chhattisgarh. The Maoists were able to decamp with six INSAS rifles, four AK-47 rifles, one 51 mm mortar and some other weapons and ammunition.

The NDA government claims to be winning the war against the Maoists. It is true that there has been significant shrinkage in the total area affected by Maoist violence and that several members of the party’s central committee and politburo have been neutralised. Last year, however, witnessed a considerable escalation in Maoist depredations.

There were a total of 433 fatalities in 2016 as against 251 in 2015. What is worrying is that the proportion of security forces personnel killed to that of Maoists has dropped from 1:3.7 in 2016 to 1:1.55 in 2017 (to date).

India’s home minister Rajnath Singh recently claimed that the Maoist threat would be eliminated in the next five years. It is true that the military capability of the Maoists has been seriously dented, but let’s not be too optimistic. If we take a historical overview of the Naxalite/Maoist movement, we find that twice in the past, governments believed that they had knocked out LWE but they managed a comeback.

After the arrest of Charu Mazumdar in 1972 and the subsequent differences within the party, it was thought that the movement had run out of steam. However, it revived in 1980 with the formation of the People’s War Group (PWG) by Kondapalli Seetharamaiah. Effective counter-insurgency operations however decimated the PWG. Seetharamaiah was arrested.

Again, the government thought the movement had been vanquished. However, in 2004, the movement resurrected in its third avatar when its two major components - the People’s War and the Maoist Communist Centre - merged to form the Communist Party of India (Maoist).

It was declared that the objective of the party was to “carry on and complete the already ongoing and advancing New Democratic Revolution in India as part of world proletarian revolution by overthrowing the semi-colonial, semi-feudal system.” The guerrilla outfits were reorganised as People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, which is about 6,000 strong.

The movement keeps on reappearing like a phoenix because the basic socio-economic factors, which are responsible for it, remain unaddressed. Poverty continues to be a problem and, according to the expert group headed by C Rangarajan, 29.5% of the population lived below the poverty line in 2011-12. Wealth is increasing, but its distribution is unequal.

About 1% of the rich are said to own 58% of the country’s wealth. Unemployment is another area of concern. Land reforms have been forgotten. Tribals are an alienated lot, largely due to their displacement as a result of developmental activities in the forest areas.

The state police forces unfortunately lean heavily on the shoulders of the Central Armed Police Forces. The great lesson of Punjab is that until the state police take the terrorists/extremists head-on, the battle against terrorism/extremism will never be won. Other forces can play only a supporting role. The state police are today in a shambles.

It is also disconcerting that the successes of the security forces are not followed up by the administration. Government departments do not establish themselves in areas when the Maoists have been driven away. In course of time, Maoists fill the administrative vacuum and regain the lost ground.

And so, the battle which started 50 years ago in Naxalbari goes on. It will continue to bleed the Indian State until we improve governance and address the core issues which sustain the movement.

Prakash Singh is a retired police chief and was member of an expert group appointed by the Planning Commission to study the problem

Who the heck was gathering intelligence in that area? How could they let an entire company (I presume) walk into an ambush?

To ambush a company strength of troops, Naxals must have numbered in hundreds How could such a massing of Naxalis not be seen?

Just to visualise the attack..

Since this a road opening party, jawans would be going in groups of 2-4, 20-30 yards apart.

That would mean road opening party would have stretched almost a kilometre long.

If there are 300 naxals, they would have attacked either first half or second half of the Crpf party.

That would mean kill zone would be stretching atleast half a kilometre.

That must have been one scary situation.

RIP to jawans ....

I guess we can expect a large encounter in next 3-4 months..

I don't realize why govt don't interrogate JNU , JU , presidency professors , these "academics" have direct contact with naxals , presidency , JU have naxal student wing in university to recruite sympathizer , under the nose of authority with support of teachers and fake-professer, these academic regularly went for tour in these naxal-tribal areas , return unharmed from darkest of red-corridor .
These rae the most important ppl because those tribes who have doubt about believing in red-violence assured by these academics to follow this path , i damn believe that solving Maoist problem lies in crackdown of fake intellectual and exposing them infront of India .
