We are so obsessed by Cricket that we continue to look beyond it. Even after the Whitewash in England we still cannot get over our cricket stars and more space is devoted in the newspaper over the absence of the Indian Team from the ICC event.

Our lads in Hockey have beaten our arch rivals in the Asian Hockey Final and still they do not merit any recognition or rewards compareable to their achievement. HI/Govt has rubbed salts in their wounds by offering a meager amount of Rs. 25,000 for each player of the winning team. The team has rightfully rejected this insulting sum.

Asian Champions Trophy: Indian hockey players reject cash award

Dejected by the reward offered after winning the Asian Champions Trophy after beating Pakistan in China, Indian hockey players refused to accept the Rs 25,000 per player cash reward offered to them by Hockey India.
Media reports earlier said Sports Minister Ajay Maken had announced reward of Rs25,000 each during felicitation ceremony of Indian hockey team.
