Lighter aircraft can land and takeoff from shorter less prepared grounds. That's why for example french special forces will continue using C-295 and Hercules instead of A400M.@PaliwalWarrior, your point is good. C295 can take 9000kg as per wiki.
I guess a large number of small planes are needed by India due to scattered military bases, factories and ammo depots all over the country. Large planes simplify logistics but India is not designed for simplified logistics.
Good luck getting Ka-226T with an EU arms embargo. With the loss of Motor Sich engines Russia's own helicopter industry has come to a screeching halt.Indian MoD clears deals for indigenous license-build of M777 guns, the Tata- Airbus Avro- replacement bid & 200 Ka-226T light helos.
ahem... The Ka 226 uses French Turbomecca engines ..!! so Embargo means.. How it can fly.. will French allow direct sale of those Engines to IndiaGood luck getting Ka-226T with an EU arms embargo. With the loss of Motor Sich engines Russia's own helicopter industry has come to a screeching halt.
There is no problem with a direct sale but Safran must have a separate deal. They cannot work with the Russians.ahem... The Ka 226 uses French Turbomecca engines ..!! so Embargo means.. How it can fly.. will French allow direct sale of those Engines to India
Since Kamovs are supposed to be "Made in India", Safran should not have a problem dealing with an Indian company. There is no problem with a direct sale but Safran must have a separate deal. They cannot work with the Russians.
Safran would have no problem selling 400+ engines to Satan himself as long as he comes with cash. It is the sanctions they would face that would make it not worth their while. The EU commission will not care if it is labelled "Make in India" if Safran has to collaborate with Kamov in order to complete it.Since Kamovs are supposed to be "Made in India", Safran should not have a problem dealing with an Indian company.
Fair enough. I am sure "they" can find a way around it.Safran would have no problem selling 400+ engines to Satan himself as long as he comes with cash. The only way around it is if the helicopters are civilian products, or if India and Safran sign an exclusive deal cutting out the Russians. The other alternative is to dump Kamov and go with the Airbus option.Fair enough. I am sure "they" can find a way around it.
Don't think that's gonna happen. Russians can manage a small turboshaft engine. Not exactly "state of the art" tech when compared to their capabilities. The other alternative is to dump Kamov and go with the Airbus option.
Russians can't even make their own helicopter engines as they left that all in Ukraine.Don't think that's gonna happen. Russians can manage a small turboshaft engine. Not exactly "state of the art" tech when compared to their capabilities.
if it has problems in Engine procurement, I sure CCS or Fin Min cancel the deal, and go for new one.Russians can't even make their own helicopter engines as they left that all in Ukraine.
I think the only item where Ukraine supplies is becoming a problem is ship turbine. Russia is working on a crash program to replace Ukrainian origin ship turbines. Helicopter engine is not sourced from Ukraine.Russians can't even make their own helicopter engines as they left that all in Ukraine.
