Unmanned Drone Operator Who Killed Over 1,600 Speaks Out About Experiences

We've been conditioned to think of drone strikes as purely mechanical acts, devoid of human input on the American end. Or, to the extent an American is involved, we think of someone putting coordinates into a computer and pushing a button. No muss, no fuss. But that's not the reality. Brandon Bryant, 27, targeted 1,626 of those drone strikes and, staring at his computer, he watched his targets die.

From 2006 through 2011, Bryant, now 27, served at bases in Nevada, New Mexico, and Iraq. Recruited to a job he was assured would see him sitting in a super cool, James Bond-like control room, Bryant found himself presiding over the deaths of almost two-thousand people.
