It has been more than a decade since the INSAS series were developed. They were not laying eggs all these years, although some might have you believe it is an egg laying bird - apart from introducing several variants of the existing array of weapons.
Some would have us believe that DRDO is an egg-laying extinct bird.

DRDO must have had it up its sleeve. Good one, it true, that they released the news at the time when tests are being done, unlike many other ambitious announcements, long before anything materializes.
Hopefully, they'll choose the DRDO MCIWS over the other 5 competitors.

sir you wont fight more then 30 days on imports, i am not in good mood today. Just remember in Kargil war, lot of emergency imports took place. Just remember while you are fighting and waiting for the shell and artillery parts, as same are out of stock in India and foreign manufacture says that they will provide the same in 20 days plus day or two to shift it. You will say that cant they make it here, enemy is at the gate. Then remember that people who are trying to make it here were discourage and called DODOs and DREDOs.
My point is the same....

What is so indigenous in DRDO and DPSU systems when every thing they import ! Even for Tejas they will have the same problem when more than 70 per cent of it is imported.

Today's war fighting or management of war has to be economics based. Why should nation buy from DRDO tejas which is more expensive than say Gripen. Gripen would be available easily to supplement war efforts but not Tejas for which HAL will be dependent on imported parts from so many outside vendors.

We are no more in a cold war situation. Today is the era of global economy. Throw the money and anyone will give you weapons as no one is any more is a cold war block. Take the example of 155 Guns. How many countries are ready to supply India 155mm Guns? Pakistan is managing its war efforts on imports and aids. Does that mean their war waging potential will be hampered. If it is hampered, it would be due to lack of money and not because they do not have DPSU and DODO.. Will India be able to sustain its war efforts beyond certain days if Russia does not give you ammunition of Tanks and artillary? What has DRDO done about it. Not been able to make 84 mm RL round in last 40 years. India still uses 81mm Mortar ammunition of WWI vintage. Will that win you a war?

Your watch is imported, your Laptop is imported, your toys are imported, your bed sheet is Chinese, the fabric of your Kurta is Chinese, your Car has Japanese engine, your books are printed by Macgrow Hills etc etc... That is no threat is National Security ! DPSU import all parts from foreign countries and only assemble those. That becomes indigenous ! Hell of an argument.

DRDO and DPSUs making substandard and third class system and then forcing those on the soldiers to defend India is the biggest threat to security of the country. Most of the time those systems are as expensive or more costly than imported ones. Therefore, we are neither achieving economy not superiority of weapons and equipment. The country is only sustaining a third class reservist force and DRDO and DPSU are but a socio political employment organisations.

We tried throwing the money, but the cryogenic engine got blocked. Try throwing money to get the Ohio Class submarine blueprints, and you would be lucky if you got a dodo's egg omlette.

Moreover, we need to stop "throwing the money" away and learn to keep it inside the country. Weapons systems are very expensive. They are so expensive that the numbers don't even have an impression on the common man's mind.

Let's be realistic here - for God sake!

Yes you may be right. Then develop those systems which are not available for money. Why do not you have intestine transplant felicity in India which is available for money. Why does not India produce cheap Chemotherapy injunctions. Invest money in making Nuclear weapons, Nuclear submarines but for god sake in in making 155mm Guns and then keep Armed Forces devoid of it for 40 years. DODOs have not even been able to produce even a respectable 105mm Gun. When IA wants to import 155mm Guns they suddenly want to produce it. Where were they for last 40 years.

DODOs can not even make even a workable two inch Mortar bomb leave aside higher calibre bombs. India has been sustaining on imported ones. That has not posed any threat to national security. BEL is yet to make a workable radio set so far.

The money India has dumped in those so called indigenous efforts have been a big and colossal drain and economic loss to the country.

You have been flying on Boeing and Airbuses which does not put you to shame. But you are shamed by import of Bofors. What kind of argument is that? For you wanting ingenious cryogenic engines is all right as that is not available for money. But there is none of the world class health and education system of our own because Indian elite can buy in import and in the process make huge money.

So, do I conclude that Indian elites want to pump in money in DRDO so that those people develop systems to save ruling class backsides and so that they sustain their loot in import? Let aside everything the language I write is imported.

why are we not thrusting down heavy electric equipment made by BHEL on all our big projects? why are we importing 70 percent of electric and electronics from China? If Chinese suddenly stop that would that hamper national security more or SA not giving 155mm ammunition?

The arguments are faulty on the part of DODOs?

yes the real problem and genesis of the logic is that give us the money and we shall import. Why are you importing directly. That seems be the fight between the DODOs, DPSUs and the Services. After all what DODOs assemble is but all imports. It is only the fight for their and MoD commission in imports.

Does the health and education expenses of India has any impression on common man's mind? And what does one get in return - being lebelled as mango man?

Reality is what is not commonly seen.

Sir, Exactly, that is what I am saying. His attitude, intolerance of any criticism of DODOs and propaganda speak louder. He should rebutt the arguments rather than casting aspersions. But perhaps he has his bread to earn.....

:hitwall:

This is the height of confusion. They mentioned 5 companies, none of which was called DRDO, in the tender last month. Now out of the blue, DRDO has also made a rifle.

Clarify please.
I smelled a rat a long time ago.
