Re: The Greatest Kings in Indian History

I consider Raja Raja Chola, Rajendra Chola and Chatrapathi Shivaji and Anyone who have defeated or held the Arabs, Mughals and the british as the greatest Kings in the history.

Raja Raja Chola, Rajendra Chola and before them Pallavas were responsible for the spread of Indian thoughts across the South East Asia. and the Chola Navy was responsible for holding the advances of Arab piracy and facilitating free trade in Indian Ocean.

Chatrapathi Shivaji was responsible for ousting the Mughals and for creating a Strong Indian Empire that stood for the Indian Way of Living.

These are some of the greatest men whose name has such a great impact to many in Tamil Nadu. Especially Raja Raja Chola and Chatrapathi Sivaji. Sivaji is a source of inspiration to Tamils in many ways. We even pet named the greatest Drama and cinema actor in TN, just because He played the Role of Veer Sivaji.

There is lot of Doubts as to if the mughals really built the Taj Mahal or the Red Fort

Taj Mahal was Hindu Temple “Tejo Mahalay” part-1(true facts)

Of course the Arabs were also later defeated by the Chalukya King Vikramaditya.
Yes, protected rest of India from Arabs in Sindh or via Sindh for three hundred years. But did not expand their rule towards North and East.

Re: The Greatest Kings in Indian History

For me more than Raja Raja Chola it was Raja Rajendra Chola I who was one of the greatest Chola era kings. He built what is considered by many historians as the greatest Naval Flotilla in the 5000+ years of Indian Civilization and conquered present day areas of malaysia and Indonesia. The size of the chola navy and their respective era fire power is only exceeded by the present day Indian navy. The Cholas with their land armies of elephant regiments and Naval armada where for a short period of time among the Super powers of that generation. If only that tradition had been continued the British could not have even come within sniffing distance of conquering India.

By the way, don't we keep saying that India wasn't one politico-military entity for most of the time. How then will we evaluate how much was somebody an Indian in the 16th century.

Except that these folks didn't assimilate. How much of Indian culture did Mughals adopt? For example - when they married Indian women, did they give their daughters/sister in marriages or was it one sided?

Taj Mahal is built by Indian material, Indian hands, funded by Indian tax money and stands on Indian soil.
It is every bit our right to feel pride in the structure because we own it.
Who ordered the structure to be built, is a question of historicity and finding the truth out is by every means a valid effort.
