According to link it said, Its set to replace which could mean its ready and the MK2 comes out of Avadi will feature Indian power-plant and not German ..

Other than that their are no sources about present status of the engine ..
Last heard, the Cummins QSK38 was to be the base engine to be further developed for tracked MBT application coupled to the ESM500 transmission. This news is from 2011. No details thereafter.

Though Army could have asked to mount existing licensed produced 1000hp engine ( T-90`s V92S2 High Power Diesel Engine ) in Arjun MK1 with modification, Same as 1400hp engine is modified for MK2 ..

Source : http://ofbindia.gov.in/products/data/armoured/add_11.htm

Though at lower cursing speed but more torque, The tank would have been logistic friendly ..
I had heard in an interview that though Bharat Power pack is technically rated as 1500 hp, the team was aiming for 1800 hp - so that even if they fall short on some performance they'll still be comfortably above 1500 hp (perhaps some good lessons learnt from Kaveri project!) - this will not only be a boost to the indigenous component share, but will literally boost the thrust-to-weight ratio of the tank!!. Not sure what the final hp that has been attained, if it is indeed close to completion.

He is talking about 2011 report I guess
http://ajaishukla.blogspot.ca/2011/11/improving-arjuns-already-great.html

"I am amused at the many who appear to believe that the Arjun is "built entirely of foreign components" that are "hammered together in India". This kind of view is rooted in a deep lack of understanding of the processes of indigenisation. It is true that almost 60% of the cost of the Arjun goes on imported components. Practically all of that goes on just three components --- the power pack; the gunner's main sight (GMS); and the gun control equipment (GCE). Almost all the Arjun's other 10,000-odd component are sourced from Indian industry, which is rising to the challenge. More support from the government, in terms of better procurement procedures, would accelerate this."

Why hear it from a guy who knows nothing about DRDO, rather then DRDO itself.

You can read about suspension and GCS here.

I don't know about Pakistan but we are quite transparent when it comes to failures you don't need to hear it from a Pakistani of course.

On top of that our agency get audited by CAG and the reports are in public domain.

And certainly not of some Idiot who`s only skill is to copy past years old quotes of someone else and mixing them up for passing his own opinion on others ..

Well, he is true that arjun is a sad story but for the indigenous weapons industry.
Rest all is false.
Being big and bulky even the Israeli Merkava is of same weight but enough to kick those hoor's.
Coming to the suspension, Arjun has much superior Hydro Pneumatic suspension, Even the Merkava has Helical Spring and none of the pakistani tanks comes with hydro pneumatic suspension, they can't even spell Pneumatic.
Arjun Mk1 comes with manual AA gun whereas Arjun Mk2 comes with remote weapon system, it does not blocks the gunner's vision, army is not fool to not notice this in trials.
The first block has the Sagem FCS and second block in production will have BEl FCS.

BEL Launches Remote Controlled Weapon Station for Main Battle Tank Arjun Mk II At Aero India

The RCWS is an improvised version of the manually operated air defence gun. It enables the soldier to aim and fire at aerial targets from the safe interiors of the battle tank. Presently, the 12.7 mm guns of all tanks are manually operated. RCWS integrated on MBT Mk II has successfully completed tank integration and firing trials in September 2015. RCWS has also been developed for use in Armed Repair and Recovery Vehicle (ARRV). It can also be mounted on hovercraft / fast moving boats for the Coast Guard.

The features of RCWS include: Remote Firing option; Automatic Cocking; DSP Based Brushless Drive Technology; 2 Axis Self-stabilised platform; Day Camera & Night Vision; Automated FCS & Ballistics corrections; and Automatic Target Tracking.

Salient Features

The RCWS for MBT ARJUN Mk II is intended to lay and stabilise the NSVT 12.7 mm machine gun along with the optical sensors in traverse and elevation mounted on the MBT turret. The system allows the operator to control the gun and sight from the operating console and joy stick from inside the turret. The optical sensors include a day camera, Thermal Imager and a Laser Range Finder integrated on a single housing. The system allows automatic target tracking for air and ground targets and performs necessary ballistic computations to feed the ballistic offsets to the gun / sight. The system has a provision for the operator to do automatic loading and firing of the gun.

The system can operate on power mode without stabilisation or in stabilised mode where the gun along with the optical sensors is stabilised. The system can position the turret with an angular travel of 360 deg and elevate the gun in 60 to -5 degree elevation. The sight has a freedom of +/- 17 degree in azimuth and in elevation it can move from -5 to +60 degree. It operates from the 28V DC power source available on the tank. The RCWS meets all environmental specifications and EMI specifications as per MIL STD 461 F.

Mr M V Gowtama, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited, launching the Remote Controlled Weapon Station for MBT Arjun Mk II at the BEL stall at Aero India 2017 at Bengaluru today (February 14, 2017). Also seen are (from left) Mr Girish Kumar, Director (Bangalore Complex), Dr Ajit T Kalghatgi, Director (R&D), Mrs Anandi Ramalingam, Director (Marketing), Mr Nataraj Krishnappa, Director (Other Units), and Mr R N Bagdalkar, Director (HR).
Bengaluru, February 14, 2017: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has unveiled a new Weapon Control system — Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS)/Air Defence Weapon Station (ADWS) for 12.7 mm Gun of MBT Arjun Mk II battle tank, at Aero India 2017, today.

2000ms with RCWS, Given its 12.7mm HMG mounted ..

The RCWS can be mounted on other vehicles as well, Such as MPVs ..

The RCWS can also be operated manually ..

Can these Automatic Guns be placed on Border Posts facing Pakis ? in such a way, Soldiers can avoid direct line of sights. What will be Range ?

Probably system itself conceptually may not be the problem at border posts, but providing an uninterrupted failsafe power source can be a problem at remote forward posts.

Thanks.

Is this too big for Tata Kestrels & LAMV ?

I would love it on them.

The Army/BSF has uninterrupted power almost all along the border/LOC - to light it up. As you can see from both ground and sky...(but there may still be some spots that may not be covered)

What I would love to see more of is mast mounted or aerostat mounted surveillance equipment (LORROS/BFSR-MRs for early warning of the jihadis crossover attempts!!). That will be a game changer in the infiltration control)
