It was never 290 km. It was just that India and Russia said it was. As soon as India joined MTCR, 450 km Brahmos was tested after some "software modifications".

Nope. Brahmos regiments are command assets, not a battalion or division asset. In wartime, it'll be used to take out high risk, high value targets. Not a tactical weapon system.

My bad, read that in a hurry. Very long range cruise missiles are not particularly useful from Indian perspective. None of our enemies live an ocean away and expecting a cruise missile to fly 3000 km into Chinese airspace and not being shot down is wishful thinking at best.
