    BrahMos Cruise Missile

Thanks for the explanation. I think 700km or 800km or whatever the peak range of Brahmos will be hasn't happened yet. But, fingers crossed.

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

Not according to the Americans. It never was a 290km range missile. This is such a bad secret that DRDO guys gave a PPT presentation in some IIT back in 2012 if I remember correctly which in no uncertain terms stated its range to be 400km+.

Very comprehensive and well articulated rebuttal. Now fuck off. PS: MTCR is a NOT a treaty.

That it not a binding agreement and therefore cannot be "enforced". Members of MTCR adhere to the principles voluntarily, on paper. Now which part of the word "voluntarily" is troubling you. You cannot cannot enforce something which is not legally binding. Who says that sale of nuclear...

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

Excellent!!! How did that work out? FYI, you might wanna look up "enforced". And this makes a difference because? India has Russian nuclear submarines and I am yet to read a source which says that India can't "lease" it for its 35-40 year lifetime. Does this seem "enforced" to you? Why...

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

    1) MTCR is not enforcable. 2) Execpt Pakis nobody in the world is losing sleep that Russia has given India a longer range missile and Pakis are irrelevant. 3) India has been using Russian nuclear submarines for decades. Do you really think that a modern iteration of a 1980s missile is the line...

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

It was never 290 km. It was just that India and Russia said it was. As soon as India joined MTCR, 450 km Brahmos was tested after some "software modifications".

@Chinmoy I was asking His Excellency @no smoking where did he learn that Chinese copies of S-300 are capable of low level interception because I couldn't find a source that states the same. Last I checked, both S-300 and S-400 use other systems like Buk or Pantsir to safeguard themselves from...

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

Nope. Brahmos regiments are command assets, not a battalion or division asset. In wartime, it'll be used to take out high risk, high value targets. Not a tactical weapon system.

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

I don't know how did you come up to this conclusion. Roughly every single PAF air base comes within 450kms range of the current configuration. Same goes for the bridges that span Indus river. Extended rage at 900kms will bring every single square feet of Pakistani territory within its range. If...

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

My bad, read that in a hurry. Very long range cruise missiles are not particularly useful from Indian perspective. None of our enemies live an ocean away and expecting a cruise missile to fly 3000 km into Chinese airspace and not being shot down is wishful thinking at best.

Can't afford 3000-4000 missiles of ~$3 million each. Precisely why Nirbhay was initiated. At $0.5 million each (according to Saurav Jha) you can fill up the inventory as much you like. Also keep in mind that LACMs need a ton of support vehicles and associated manpower.

    BrahMos Cruise Missile

Brahmos with the range of 600km+ brings every nook & cranny of Pakistan under it's range. This test has far bigger implications than suggested. Brahmos II was supposed to have "290km" range in compliance with MTCR. That is not the case anymore. Russian Zircon on which Brahmos II is rumoured to...
