HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Where ? The spherical thing right on top of the rotor tail ( next to the blades ) That will be the navigation / strobe light . No sensors for counter measure / self defence has been integrated into LCH till date. Not even flare chaff dispensers are to be seen.

Note the white panel underneath the fuselage Guess it is some kind of radar based ground proximity sensor and ground collision avoidance system.

Helicopters are meant to detect and engage their targets at stand off ranges The moment you fail to detect a target at standoff distance and the target ends up below your helicopter you are long dead , blow right out of the sky . There is no question of even a fighting chance. There is a blind...

Seriously why is that even an issue ? Pods position on top or below is irrelevant provided the FOV is as per the requirements.

These are more or less ready , they are testing it on by one . See the patch next to the EO pod , that is for the LWR , RWR , MAWS it was installed at some point of time for tests but then removed and patched up. I don't know why they have not integrated all of these onto one of the prototype

He got most of them wrong IMO. Eg Nobody places DIRCM on top of the tail rotor . The thing labelled as CFD is a air ventilation exhaust to cool the tail rotor gear box. Lch has yet to sport the components of the IADS (integrated air defence system) It comprises of 1.LWR laser warning...

I doubt it LCH is a sleek helicopter , cannot have the bulky box like appendages from Dhruv installed on it. It will mess up the aerodynamics big time. Which is why I raised the question. LCH will need flush / conformal sensors for SPS. Which will need aerodynamic studies and certification -...

Why there is no integrated defence system on LCH ? No MAWS no CMDS no RWRs..... nothing Why this lacuna Nobody will order a attack helicopter without self defence suite

You should read what I wrote again sir. I said " half baked approach " of HAL and I definitely did not say half baked LCH as you implied. And coming to the subject matter stimulations are not the end all solution , they are means to a solution but still require real life validation. Let's...

Forget about the stickers and all If I were you I would be wondering why the heck HAL has started building up LCHs considering till now no CMDS , RWR , MAWS , DIRCMS etc have been integrated on LCH. ( no official word or evidence for the same ) This requires airframe modifications and thus...

Not only that , AFAIK some sort of cooling takes place before the air leaves the exhaust. A foreign company was involved with HAL and DRDO to develop the same.

your are absolutely right about LCH/Apache combo and my views are also same. it will work splendid not a worry. another important thing, infact a strong requirement from LCH/apache combo perspective is that the LCH will have to undergo significant changes in certain hardware and software...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

what you have suggested would seem to be the obvious course of action given LCH is a light category platform and the armed forces would most likely go down the path u suggested. i would also prefer the same but would not limit myself to it, because i want us to think like the Israelis and not...

would love to see LCH equipped with similar/equivalents of 1.Ground Fire Acquisition System (GFAS). the GFAS is an offensive targeting system for attack helicopters. It uses infrared cameras to detect muzzle flashes from ground fire and displays the location and distance of the shooters as an...
