The US Army SF has a completely different mandate, tbf they're a very unique force and can't be compared to the SF's around the world. Their main jobs are UW and FID i.e linking up with indigenous forces, training them, and fighting alongside them. At the start of GWOT, they were dropped in for...

His father is Lt. Gen. JK Mohanty (Retd.). IIRC, he was colonel of the regiment for the Dogra regiment and chief of the Army central command.

From what I have heard, the Malaysian PASKAL is pretty good, the Singaporeans are pretty solid at CT, HK's SDU (not SOF technically) are good at CT, have heard good thing about the Thai SOF from former US SF operators.

The GB's watering it down was mainly making SFAS a 2-week instead of a 3-week process. IIRC, they had moved it back to 3-weeks around 2009-'10. If you talk to USMC vets, Rangers vets who served in Afghanistan when Op. Red Wings happened, you'll see an almost unanimous opinion that the SEALs...

That could probably be the physical part due to Hell Week and the fact that volunteers are cold, wet, and sandy all the time. That 4chan /k/ post says the same that they just focused on the physical and not the psychological screenings. Delta, for instance, conducts very comprehensive psych...

I wouldn't completely write off 4chan due to the notoriety it has received from its /pol/ and /b/ boards. Some boards like /k/, /g/, /sci/ have interesting posters and the content is mostly good. militaryporn on Reddit has had ex-US military personnel have the same opinions on operation Red...

Vic is a former DEVGRU officer, IIRC he was commanding a few assault teams when GWOT started. Had some issues early on when operating in Afghanistan. Last I recall he was a co-founder of some sorts in some computer security venture called "Silent Circle", and they were heavily recruiting ex-JSOC...

Sure, getting them ready for such cases in the event of a war or operations like surgical strikes is totally possible, but, inserting SF teams deep into enemy territory just for a bet is not believable regardless of how much pull some general might have.

Interesting. What makes them the worst of the worst, and why do they end up having a wide disparity in skills compared to the SSG?

Yep, no way in hell they pulled this off. Just like that, on short notice, they just planned a freefall insertion deep into enemy territory in an area that happens to house the Pakistani Army HQ. Also, just like that, they happened to have an extraction plan to get them out of Rawalpindi. If...
