    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Been to the Jodhpur AFS, this pic is a photoshopped one.

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

You're right. Did a double check - that was sloppy work on my part. Body lift and tail control instead of TVC/control surfaces. I jumped to TVC because its predecessor in the British system was the SRAAM - first TVC missile for Hunter F6s. ASRAAM provides near 50km range with mach 3 cruise...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Derbys are coming. Rest assured. Russians will cry foul but that didnt stop IAF from mounting R73s on Mirage 2000s.

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

ASRAAMs are only known operational missiles that use TVC to maneuver the missiles, instead of control surfaces. This makes the missiles far simpler (large control surfaces are what made Python unusable on Tejas) and DEADLY.

The most recent order is RVV-SDs, 100 odd km ranged ones. And yeah, stop gap measure till Astras come in (in significant quantities) and Derbys are being worked upon. There is no rush to replace the R73 (obvious reasons) but eventually we might see an all ASRAAM fleet.

JahahHah. An upgraded MiG21 is far better than the Junk they call Thunder.

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

The US had a program for perpetually patrolling nuke powered bombers back in the early days of the Cold War, needless to say, scrapped pretty early. Kinda crazy! but that was the cold war

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Buddy, Su-30MKI program has a very complicated development phase from Sukhoi's side. We funded it completely, yes, but the tech developed is beyond the traditional Su-27 package; which is why the Russians themselves built some SU-30SMs for their RuAF, same body, inferior avionics and sensor...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Agreed partially. But don't assume that the Su-27/30 production in Russia is the same in India, there are some major differences - including but not limited to a higher use of composites, better titanium alloys and others that will remain unstated.

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Who said that they are the same aircraft? Its a derivative, the Russians always go for an evolutionary concept on a proven airframe for several years before bringing in completely new designs.

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

umm, its Obvious!!?? And its quite openly stated as a fact by Russian/Indian/Western sources ad nauseum?

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Doesn't make the Su-30MKI any less potent, while it is true that the Su-27 design is dated, the avionics, sensor suite, weapons package isn't. The Su-30MKI might quite easily develop sortie rate issues with a prolonged war -- or it might not, given what one hears of IAF's extreme emphasis on...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

I am going to ignore you. You quite clearly believe that the sun shines out of Putin's rear so no real point in arguing with you. But one last time, IAF is Fabricating it's spares. Understand what that means? About Russian Navy...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

What a class act clown ! Of the seven crashes of Su30MKIs, four, FOUR, were due to faulty fly by wire system! Sukhoi availability rates were fucking abysmal. Barely 40-47% of the fleet was available for duties at a time and even amongst them they had issues with pylons malfunctioning and ECM...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Are you blind? Or an idiot? I suspect the latter. The Su30 that crashed was a pre-production unit, ergo IAF had not accepted it yet. Which makes the crash all the more suspicious. How can a spanking new jet crash ? And to be fair, the Su30s have a better record than the atrocious records of...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Depends on the quality you're looking for. No western jet can match a Russian jet in terms of sheer manoeuvrability but then again, muricans are lay emphasis on Energy fighting ever since Zeros whooped their asses in WWII.

Yeahh this thread got derailed several pages back.. lets ditch this submarine topic

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

Woaah woaah woaah You appear to have no understanding about just what makes a submarine stealthy. AIP helps by removing Diesel gens for recharging a battery of the sub but it is not any more quieter than a sub running just on batteries and electric motors! So, a sub on combat patrol, stalking...

    Sukhoi Su 30MKI

The Russians cheated us with the MKIs... who wants to go for them again... Besides not much of an improvement over the MKI except the AESA radar which will be negated by the Super Sukhoi upgrade. The major issue with MKIs (and this is exacerbated by the Su-35s) is fuel costs and maintenance issue.
