Paki WLRs were a constant nuisance to us in Kargil. Indian acquisition was done on urgent basis after seeing their effectiveness.

Rocket Artillery has its place, but cannot replace tube arty. In Indian Army Grads and Pinakas are attached to the Corps level IIRC.

MoD procurements are a minefield. Modi and Parrikar are systematically working thru the mess. Raksha Mantri is acting like a clearing house for defence deals, one by one getting deals signed and executed.

There is also a hydraulic 'press' at the back to raise the platform. This way there is no recoil pressure on the suspension.

What mechanism does truck mounted arty employ to dampen the recoil? Are these guns made less powerful compared to field unit to reduce the shock? I am surprised that a commercial truck chassis can take the punishment for even a day.

I was talking about the latter. Installing naval guns on land will not make military sense as they will be on static installations due to power requirements as well they will need to sit on the building for the 'below deck' magazine and like. The only case where naval arty has been deployed...
