The technology is not for sale and no amount of money India can pay is enough. GE alone has commercial engine order backlog worth over $200 billion at present. (Not counting military orders) Give me one reason why would they jeopardize this monopoly...

Yes, you can and should do it yourself. No one gives you certain tech and when you develop yours, you won’t give it away either. You made a nuclear bomb on your own for gods sake- you can do this too. But learn the process first as you can’t build a fort without foundation. You need local tier...

The founder of this airline was CEO of US Airways (that merged with American). US Airways always had excellent relationship with Airbus and got good deals from them. Nothing other than business. Each Airbus has many US made equipment most notably Engines. A320neo is excellent choice and does not...

Responding to RFI is not begging. Asking for tech that is not available for sale is begging. Get off the high horse.

These are not my words. This is official US policy. If you don’t understand the value of it, too bad.

Let’s get to that point first- Get GE to sell certain tech and discuss afterwards.

Why are we going around in circles? Do you want whole engine? Get licensed build- easier, faster and cheaper. Do you want core tech so that you can build one yourself? Go talk to the company. It’s not about the engine or thrust that India has problem getting access to. India can license build...

The partnership usually provides both parties something they don’t have. What does India bring to table except money? (You may not know the answer but we do)

Really?! How does the hot sections of F414, LM1600, F110 or CFM56 are different? The same core technology applies in all of them except the afterburner (and software) for fighters. If India wishes to obtain “core tech” any of these would suffice.

Yup.. that is correct. When you go shopping make sure what you need and what is available for sale.

You are overly confusing this. Law does not apply to civilian engine tech. FYI

What’s the definition of success? Swedes (RM-8) and Italians (LM2500) are now Tier 1 and 2 suppliers for aero engines the world over. Their national objectives do not include making aero-engines. But if they wanted, they could have IMO. anyway.. time for hitting the hay

I am sure Indian engineers and technicians have learned a lot by assembling those engines, supplier base develops and eventually ecosystem is created to make own engine. Takes time but that’s the right way.

The best way is to license build the engines (Many nations have done that) and move up over time. I don’t know the details on Kaveri engine.

Which law will need to apply if a company is unwilling to sell? Can, for instance, a close ally like Australia ask for GE engine technology? yes. Will GE part with it. Absolutely not- even if US government gives green light. These are priceless assets and closely guarded commercial secrets...

Go ahead then, pay GE/ P&W / Honeywell and get the technology, if they agree to part with it. US government is not blocking anything.
