That's true but in a thread on this subject the theme emerges, "US was against us in 1971, never trust US in future."

I would like to see actual US Forces strategic plans for such an outcome, if they still exist today and are unclassified. It's a long way from Kissinger's smooth assurances and launching the US Pacific Fleet.

I have to wonder how relevant these events of 42 years ago are today.

Is there a contemporary source for that even? Would be interesting.
