HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

You are strongly pitching for a major reduction in the strength of the Army. Putting forward quite well researched propositions. But, but as they say the theoretical needs to be validated by actual on the ground performance. If you were an Army Commander on the northern front facing China...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

One of the best shots of the LCH. The angle at which it was shot gives it a surreal presence. A novice can well be made to believe that it is a US, European or Russian heli. It should enter service soon. Hope it has a good defensive aids system to spot shoulder fired Sam's and engage counter...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

If a war like situation develops one cannot ground all our LCH and Rudra ALH helicopters because an indigenous ATGM is not ready and available. That would be very foolish. I believe the LCH has cleared almost all the mandatory tests including hot weather (Rajasthan desert with temp > 50 Deg C)...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Peace. Shanthi Bro. Because of the latest stand off with the Chinese on the border all stake holders have realised the urgent need for an high altitude heli to support the army. In India sometimes it needs a big crisis to shake people out of their complacency. Also maybe we are facing...

Let's not get pessimistic. I agree it lacks an ATGM capability what with our Helina and Sant not yet ready but in the interim may be we can fit the Spike ER or French missiles. Not an insurmountable problem. The weapon platform itself is unique in the world due to its ability to operate at very...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

We should not rest on our achievements. The next big step is to bring the Multi Role Helicopter in the 10 to 12 tonne class to fruition. May require more powerful engines and other technologies. Hope the design is frozen soon. A spin off will be a naval multi role helicopter which will be quite...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

All the helicopter models starting with the ALH, LCH and LUH look gorgeous. When seen in comparison with Russian helicopter variants (Russian designed helicopters like the Mi17 are very reliable and good though not high on aesthetics) our HAL helis look sexy. Full credit to the designers...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Continuing from my previous post focusing on air power options in mountainous areas with special reference to the Kargil War. Another alternative to the use of fixed wing aircraft to bomb enemy positions on mountain heights is using drones. Indigenous drones like the Rustom can be customised...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

I would like to ask aerospace experts one question Can a helicopter like the LCH fire an Laser Guided Bomb. In a situation of total air superiority where enemy Sam's and aircraft do not pose threat can helicopters be used to bomb targets. Like in Kargil war where Pakistani intruders occupied...

HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Is the total figure of Rs.5500crores correct?. 83 LCA alone will cost tens of thousands of crores. At 450 crores per Mk1A as quoted by HAL the total comes to 83 * 450 =Rs. 37,350crores. Probably one zero is missing in the figure quoted in the article.
