    Indian Army: News and Discussion

PMCs would be useful outside our borders, but as of now we only take part in UN led "peace keeping" operations (another chutyia policy that needs to be junked).

IIRC the Army spends something like 75% of its budget on salary and pensions - that's simply unsustainable. Also pay is only going to go up in the future. Anyways what I'm more shocked about is they simply stopped the recruitment for past couple of years, rather than doing it in a phased...

But the government actually have a "line of thought" when it comes to the military? Apart from talking about Atmanirbharta 2 times a year and maybe influencing inconsequential things like which song in played at parades. IMO the MoD is mostly running on inertia i.e. babus (both civil and in...

Leaving the highest post unfilled because of seniority, preserving line of succession etc IS babu logic. CDS is no more "political" than any other service chief, don’t know why folks are repeating CTs of presstitutes.

I'm still hoping (against hope) that they appoint someone from the Navy or at least the Air Force to CDS position, but I guess the government will just go by some babu logic to choose the candidate 🤷‍♂️.

Let's wait for the actual budget, so called "steep" came after going to record lows and was nowhere near what is required.

Ain't happening, for 2021 it was at $63 billion (budget estimate, real spending might be higher at the end of the year). I would be impressed with even a $5 billion increase.

Yeah that seems rather jugaadu yet suboptimal. BTW how do you "zero" a rifle mounted I2, add a red dot sight? (I think we have seen that setup used by Paras(?) with their Tavors).

    Indian Army: News and Discussion

The news mentions only I2 (which cannot be used in daytime), and if its one of those that can also be helmet mounted monocle it would not have any magnification (right?), but would make sense to have some magnification if it's going to be rifle mounted exclusively. Anyways a small but...

    Indian Army: News and Discussion

Were they not initially looking for something like 36k rounds (remember reading something like that a few weeks ago)? Or was that a different weapon/contract? Also this should have been a Make-1 contract, AFAIK for Make-2 the companies will have to pay for the development and testing cost - I...

Pinaka launcher has 2 "Pods" that holds rockets. As of now there is only a 214mm caliber option, and each pod holds 6 of these rockets (guided one has only 4 rockets due to space requirements for the canards). The length of the longer 214mm rocket is ~5.2m and weigh 325 kg (so each pod has close...
