I had asked hvtiaf about the airframe life. He said it's 3000 hours but it can be increased according to requirements.

There can't be a better source than the test pilot itself. Clearly Tejas isn't designed for that, fighter jets these days are a lot more than just Mach numbers.

Just for mere numbers we can't abandon the 4.5 gen platform. The problem with going straight to AMCA will be a complete change of platform, single engine to double engine If they get such large orders, obviously they would be ramping up the production line. But they won't thus no need to talk...

Well it will be pretty terrible in that role without a working cannon.

The only way forward is ditching the MWF for AMCA, 5th gen should be a priority for the Defense ministry. If they start now, then we can hope it flies for the first time by 2026/27. Hopefully Kaveri won't be a dream by then.

What are you on about ? India doesn't have any BVR missiles with that range. The r-77 India operates has a range about 80 KM's and believe me probably of that missile hitting a modern jet at 80 KM's is very slim. The one you are talking about is K 77m which india doesn't operate.

Forget the Kaveri, it's not going anywhere near that plane.

Mk1A needs to be between 40m to 45m dollars if they want the IAF to go anywhere near it. 63m is way too much for it as Gripen falls rightly under it.
