it is a letdown that we have neglected role of marksman. Sniper recently got update in their inventory. US,Uk and various other countries have 3 marksman per platoon 1 marksman per section. We still on 1 to 2 per platoon. A picture of UK platoon

I recently had a chat with someone from armed forces it looks like you are right about section strength. Generally platoon are issued with two marksman though no and weapon may vary.

Due to shortage of officers and jcos often section strength are increased.
