I am guessing the exhaust from the engines are washed down that section, so maybe to insulate internal systems and also maybe to avoid blackening of the section.. similar to what su 30 has next to it's gun cannon.

like LCH, did not find anything Naval IMRH either.. from the video HAL said only ALH has been modified for CG and Navy and that LUH features foldable rotors which got incorporated in ALH. Navy does not need LCH yet but once we have our proposed LPDs built, IN may decide to field some LCH for CAS...

Must say good job done by HAL in Helicopter dept. They should make Naval version also in future to equip our LPDs and carriers.

Without AFCS I doubt.. must have been using something.. otherwise It would be very difficult for pilots o control the aircraft at high altitudes

What AFCS was it using before? All those tests in the Siachin happened with foreign AFCS?

True, my thoughts are same.. DRDO and HAL seems to have reduced the public events it used to do for every other milestone achieved.. they have understood the importance of working to get the final products rolled out and put in service.
