At the end of the day, the AK 203, SIG 716, and Negev 7 are major improvements over what is currently being used. Old AKs, INSAS, Brens, PKMS, and SVDs should have been replaced shortly after the 1999 Kargil war. The sooner they are inducted and made in India, the better.

I can finally say that a regular infantry soldier (not Ghatak or SF) in the IA has a modern rifle platform. Hopefully, they can license build the SIGS in India to equip all frontline troops with them (would work well with the Negev 762x51).

I wonder if the IA has the foresight to find a dedicated supplier for accessories such as foregrips, flashlights, slings, back up sights (flip-ups), magazines, and optics. I personally run MAGPUL furniture and back up sights. Surefire flashlights, and Vortex optics.
