Maybe because these planes would be engaging their targets from a very long distance, the frontal RCS even with canards isn't sacrificed too much since the fight is stable. So, even if things go haywire and they are picked up by the enemy or in WVR, it should give them better maneuverability...

I don't understand but if its a prototype then why there's an insignia at the fin of the plane. I mean is it a finished work prototype? And also if someone can take a picture then why not a video to add more substance.
