    Akash Surface-to-air Missile

Thats why I used the second line........ Even if you miss one parameter, it would be hard to take it down.

Nothing WOW about it. Every SAM is capable of that speed. Given all the 100 parameters of an engagement is 100% perfect, any SAM could take down BRAHMOS.

Akash doesn't use liquid fuel in second stage. It does make use of Ram-Rocket propulsion for sustain flight. http://www.drdo.gov.in/drdo/English/index.jsp?pg=akash.jsp

    Akash Surface-to-air Missile

For something to target at a distance of 30km+ from ground, till date we cannot afford to have a Active seeker to work in Fire and Forget mode. We need to have a power source strong enough to support it for that long duration. Passive seeker is another thing. Moreover are you aware whether we...

No. It is still command guided. RF seeker is for terminal guidance only. Actually none of the SAM's are fire and forget system barring MANPADs.

Probability of Kill depends on Tracking and targeting along with the missile engagement. So in current scenario, we could say that a single missile Pk is 0.8 based on 88% kill probability in accordance with different subsystems (if we have to believe open source).

Akash-1S is evolvement of Akash Mk1. Today was its first development firing trial. Eventually after its induction both Mk1 and 1S would be used in tandem for time being. But we would see a gradual shift towards NG down the line.

As @kurup already mentioned, one more thing for simple knowledge. A RAMJET can't accel a body from zero. It needs thrust to operate itself. https://www.drdo.gov.in/drdo/English/index.jsp?pg=akash.jsp

720 kg of Akash is the launch weight i.e., weight of the missile with the rocket booster. Now Barak 8 weight of 275 kg is without its booster IMO. Its launch weight would be 300+ kg.

Any idea on the launch weight of Akash-NG? Akash Mk-1 has a whooping launch weight of 720 kg.

The report of 30% failure is only due to production issues. Its not like that 30% of missiles failed to hit target, they were not even been able to fly at first place. So this could be brought down to manageable limit by strict QA. Although its a bit on higher side, but then too, a strict QA...

I ma not talking about our ASAT capability. It would be another beast. I am talking about simple LRSAM of S-400 capability. This idea of adapting Shaurya to act as an SAM is biting me off like anything, don't know why. Also did wrote to DRDO asking if its viable..., although yet to...
