It was 290km, same as the export version of Yakhont. It wasn't until MTCR was signed that the P800 engines were incorporated.

Original Brahmos range was 290km to keep it under MTCR limits.

Terrain hugging CMs can get closer to a target without being detected but once it is detected it is not so difficult to shoot it down. The higher profile cruise altitude of Brahmos will make initial detection easier but once it dives for final approach you don't have a prayer of catching it.

This is the verification of land attack capability skeptics have been waiting for. The prior videos with radar reflected targets was propoganda.
