LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Can anyone explain!! We paid around 5b+ for 83 fighte jets, now ordering 100 more jets. Why should it cost more than 8b. Shouldn’t it make the fighter jet even more cheaper, like in the case of F35? As such now it would be 183 tejas mk1a produced and then tejas mk2 sharing commonality!

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Tejas mk2 will have almost same dimensions as mig21. As such tejas mk1 was supposed to have a trainer role only and proper combat fighter jet was supposed to be mk2 only!

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Why people forget past so easily…not here to defend IAF, but facts are facts the tejas mk1 was supposed to be a tech demonstrator/trainer with only 40 to be ordered with that airframe rest 250 were supposed to be mk2 variant which was 13.7m that time. with HAL mismanagement and designing ordeal...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

We need atleast 300+ fighter in next 10-15 years… That could only be achieved via a competition… In which Tejas mk2 to be developed by Tata-LM & ORCA/TEDBF by Mahindra-Boeing, with ADA & HAL overseeing both the companies…and focusing totally on AMCA! Thus two fighters will definitely meeting...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

I agree completely we need to be self reliant & even tejas mk2 with f414 is underpowered just 90-95kn in Indian conditions, but things are underway hopefully as rumours suggest the jv partner will be finalised this defexpo22 and will have the much needed 110kn with space for 20% possible thrust...

According to the HAL official, the production rate for this increased requirement by IAF is being augmented by HAL from 8 to 16 aircraft every year through the creation of a state-of-the-art new facility in Bengaluru. The deal was signed for 48k cr for 83 tejas thats 578cr per fighter although...

But as we say in our business if things aren’t written & signed the deal isn’t through!! without the engine all ADAs platforms are useless...GE engines spares & maintenance could be stopped anytime by USA!

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Reply was in context to rafale being in mmrca in 2004! whereas after Kargil war it took 8 years for them(govt&IAF) to finalise their requirements thus very same year production lines got shut, govt released that tender i think it was aug2007!

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Just a slight correction as Marut was a political project more than IAF request & it failed due to it’s underpowered engines & bureaucracy & mismanagement ! It continues till date... USA testing it’s engines first for the 6th gen fighter, we build it around the engine whereas still JV b/w RR &...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

Please understand the objective as su30mki was there to defend our bases not to charge on them! they were holding themselves back and were supposed to fire on them only if any fighter was coming to atta our bases! & statistically speaking bvr missiles be it any with radar seeker have a low kill...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

After Kargil war in 1999, the govt and IAF realised the quality of mirage 2000s but that time the production line was already stopped & rafale wasn’t even inducted by then! MMRCA was released by UPA in 2007 & regardless of MMRCA if that time if UPA would have supported LCA we could have inducted...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

India was too late to understand it’s requirements as it was the mirage 2000 which IAF & govt thought to acquire and till the time they could make up their mind france has already stopped the production of mirages! mig29 are very good in every aspect except their engine the same smokey ones in...

LCA TEJAS MK1 & MK1A: News and Discussion

That is what I was saying, HAL could have started work on atleast one prototype of mk1a in 2019 so that signing of paperwork would have been just a formality and we could have a production line running in just few months after signing of contract! within this year a dozen of tejas mk1a could...
