Pakistan is already in the process of acquiring 300 VT-4 tanks, its a 52 ton tank equipped with the GL5 APS. It will be interesting to see whether the Army still keeps languishing over the piecemeal orders of Arjun Mk1A or inducts 300-500 of them to counter Porkis

Actually the Mk1 APFSDS developed for Arjun is longer than the M829A3 APFSDS round found on the M1 Abrams. Mk1 APFSDS measures 944mm in length. My guess is that DRDO would have just increased the length of the projectile keeping the length of the projectile+cartridge same at 944mm for the 120mm...

It was conveyed to him by a retired DRDO officer, I got to know about it through his Twitter DM.

According to Defence Decode, DRDO is developing a 120mm Mk3 APFSDS for Arjun which will be able to penetrate 800mm of RHA at 2km.

Thus guy states states that an APFSDS round with 800mm RHA penetration is under development. Any news on that?

Front turret gap(which is not a weak point at all as some might say) is most likely to be resolved in Arjun Mk2 version. 55ton, 3 man crew, smoothbore gun, unmanned turret all these things point to one specific tank i.e. T-14 Armata.

That's what I meant to say. Hull armour is perfect fine, it is gunner sight which might be a weak link. Redesigning that will solve all the problems. And also a powerful new APFSDS is needed.

Arjun Mk2 turret should be similar to the Leopard 2a5 turret.

Whatever be the gun, either smoothbore or rifled, it needs better APFSDS which can penetrate 650mm+ RHA at 2km.
