    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

The most important bit, the S-band multifunction radar is already operational onboard INS Anvesh. The L-band LTR-25 air surveillance radar is already being licensed produced by BEL. DRDO has been working on UVLS for quite some time. LRLACM, XRSAM are in the works. SMART has already been...

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

My guess is the design showcased by the Navy during their Defence Expo 22 video is the final one.

MDL is expecting orders for NGD in the next 2-3 years. Expected cost: Rs.50,000 crore for 5 destroyers.

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

The rationale is that GSL would always be available to build frigate class warships ever if MDL and GRSE are occupied with other projects. The contract for building 2 frigates with ToT from Russia seems like a pilot project to evaluate GSL and a larger order might see the light of the day if GSL...

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

Given the timelines of the NGD, my guess is that the Navy and the shipyards will first try to either finish off the NGF project which might be incremental upgrades and refinements to P17A design which are basically 'mini' destroyers given their tonnage. Given the modular construction, they...

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

Frankly, undertaking of such a design similar to the Mogami class frigates would be way too risky and would end up being expensive. Also, I have my doubts if such a design can pack 100+ VLS cells. An enlarged P15B design will do the job just fine, its just that those RBU pods and the ancient...

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

This really seems to be a great design, however it can do with addition of 16 more VLS cells in the front section for a total of 96 VLS cells. 16 inclined launchers for anti ship missiles and 96 VLS cells for a mix of cruise missiles, ASROC, Surface to air missiles.

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

True, there seems to be enough space to pack another 16 VLS cells at the front.

More like optimally armed. IN, unlike PLAN, concentrates on crew comfort, long range, not making the ship a running matchbox by filling it to the brim with missiles. VL-SRSAM, which is likely to enter service in the next few years will be retrofitted on the IN warships. That will increase the...

    P-18/Next Generation Destroyer class (NGD)

Nibbas, given our budget constraints and dwindling destroyer fleet, it would be ideal to build 5-7 more hulls under Project 15C, with a more streamlined hull, LANZA 3D air search radar. It should not cost more than $7-8 billion and would give the Indian Navy a fleet of 12-15 modern stealth...
