HAL Prachand - Light Combat Helicopter (LCH)

Perhaps you right or perhaps they will achieve some figure near that. In defence aviation delivery timelines are most of the times stretchy across world esp when you are ab initio establishing production lines for new type. In 8 years HAL was not only just delivering aircrafts but taking...

I doubt chinese knew exact type of aircraft. I am pretty sure they know average rc of MI17, and small combat helis they fly. They saw something different on screen which might have rc in ballpark range of typical length combat heli - and thats what they protested.

@Scrutator understand that LCH has been designed to attack target from distance and not hover over targets and destroy. Hovering over targets esp where you could have rpg, shoulder fired sam, or mmg would be suicidal. IAF have more brains than you and me and they know their requirements for LCH...

Instead of manned helicopter an unmanned hovering UAV with FLIR would be more suitable in this scenario Yes in this case, Having the EO/FLIR pod below nose may be more beneficial than having above nose. EO pod on the mast would be pretty useless. However In both cases you will need to turn...

Well what advantage you are going to get on seeing downwards for fleeting seconds? And that too when you cant fire anything at it. While on move, before things which are going to come below you, are going to come first in front of you. And there you will have flexibility of pointing your weapons...
