What a way to start the year with such a great success... every bit of it deserving for the ISRO team with the GSLV success.... after ending the year with LCA induction... two long drawn out projects of India.

The emotion visible on the otherwise stoic faces of the scientists says it all.... they are ecstatic!! Not even Mangalyaan brought this kind of all-round jubilation to the mission room.

Re: ISRO to launch GSLV-D5 in July I am primarily looking at the turn around time ... 15-18 months since first announcement!! And that would not have been possible unless we had all the basics ready. But we have been struggling with the cryogenic engine for decades..... isn't that indicative...

Re: ISRO to launch GSLV-D5 in July Apart from the distance and heliocentric part of the operation, ISRO had validated most of the other navigational issues with Chandrayaan-1. Therefore Mangalyaan may perhaps be safely thought as an extension of Chandrayaan-1. In fact that is why they could get...

So, no GSLV Mk2 in 2013? No wonder no date yet!! ISRO likely to launch GSLV D5 early next month - Livemint

It's better to hold back the flight test unless every single component is made fault free.... Murphy's law keeps coming to mind every time I think of GSLV Mk2.... "Anything that can wrong, will go wrong." There is so much riding on this launch not just for ISRO, but for the entire country.

Re: ISRO to launch GSLV-D5 in July Very true. But what's befuddling is the fact that the second stage, which is the same as that of the ultrasuccessful PSLV, has been the source of trouble this time. PSLV has had so many successful flights without a hint of trouble. Hope ISRO gets to the...

Re: GSLV with indigenous cryogenic engine to be launched in April 2013 I think, GSLV Mk2 (indigenous cryogenic engine) most probably in July 2013. GSLV Mk3 heavy lift launch vehicle in January 2014.

Re: GSLV with indigenous cryogenic engine to be launched in April 2013 No doubt that there is a lot riding for GSLV on this Mk2 launch. Apart from it being a huge boost for India's standing in the commercial launch market, it will also be a confidence booster for the Mother of all Indian launch...
