This must mean the Saras/NG, RTA will only just be ready by 2025, it won't count towards that 80-100 unit figure which seems rather ambitious anyway, assuming production commences in 2020, 20/year production rate starting from nothing seems implausible

Yeah I was thinking about that, it is a shame the GoI is getting out of the airline business just as domestic aerospace is starting to pick up so I seriosuly doubt they will be willing to create a new airline considering all the bad press Air India has got as a public entity. Airlines are quite...

Don't worry bro, that was my plan for sure. Staying here and first to get my ATPL unfrozen then do my time and see how long it takes to get command, I wouldn't want to relocate until I have had a command, like you said FO positions are less sought after and AFAIK seniority is more valued in Asia...

I wonder if they still plan on having a turbofan variant of RTA-70: Some more reminders of RTA-70/90: For commercial flights this isn't possible, for commcerical flights regulators mandate 2 pilots. Very good point, C-295 assembly investment could be leveraged perfectly by...

I wish bro! Sadly the IndiGo recruitment process is done in India, I had passed the CAE Oxford aptitude tests in Oxford but to go for the Indigo Cadet scheme I would have had to travel to India specifically. We will see how my career goes, if the Indian aviation market grows as I expect it...

Bahrain? Interesting, do they have good facilities out there? What’s the situation in India wrt type rating? I’ve heard that there’s quite a backlog for training facilities there. I’ve heard of quite a few cadets going to Germany, good quality and pretty affordable too!

Govt will be foolish if they don’t offer massive subsidies for Saras, every other aircraft manufacturer has govt subsidies from their respective govts. ————— Have no real preference although 737 seems like it would be more “fun” to fly. Where will you be doing your type rating?

HALBIT would be a decent alternative sure, just hope whatever is delivered with it is contemporary, the original cockpit is woefully outdated by current standards and Saras needs to be world class otherwise we know the criticism will be strong from a certain lobby..... ————- Am about to start...

Nice info. The 19 seat variant is what’s needed ASAP, it will transform regional air transport in India if it can be produced fast enough and to a high quality. On the avionics, I hope they don’t try and reinvent the wheel and go for a fully off the shelf solution from Garmin or there like as...

Ah very similar story! After graduating a few years ago and working for a couple of years I knew it was time to pursue something I had always wanted to do. What stage are you at bro?

Luckily 2030 is not far away and you’ll be able to see your error bro! Or maybe I’m just too blind because I’m training to become a commercial pilot!

And there’s nothing to back it up! Every industry analysis says passenger planes are here to stay and 2030 is far too soon to be writing them off.

Do not discount the turbofan vs turbojet aspect. Turbofan on the ERJ allows the 145 to fly faster, higher and be more economical on fuel than the Saras. Turboprops are not ideal for AEW.

Why are so many fixated with CAS aircraft? India has NO requirements for such assets, the IAF and IA have rejected every opportunity for them.
