    We are going to have to wait and watch what DRDO has in store for F-INSAS. As a developing system, it will be mired in secrecy for a long time. It would be neat if they are planning an exo-skeleton for the soldiers too.

    This is being done in phases. Battalion level by 2012, higher up by 2014 and full scale deployment by the end of the decade.

    I wouldn't be so sure about it. Sukhoi delivered the MKI ahead of schedule while the F-35 is taking it's own sweet time. I think even the T-90 came ahead of schedule. But I am not so sure about this.

    W250 Bulky. Just strapping a Motorola Defy would make more sense. It is water proof and sand proof. Just make it a bit more rugged and you have a first rate gear on a first rate operating system. The W250 looks more like futuristic handcuffs.

    It looks fine to me. Army wants guns now to replace the old SLRs and INSAS rifles. These guns could be used until the end of the decade. From 2013 onwards, or more realistically 2014 onwards we will start inducting the F-INSAS guns. Perhaps the IA will standardize on the rifle in the long run.
