I have nothing against AK-203....On the contrary, i have written above, that Indian Army knows the best ...as nobody else knows their operational requirements better than them.... But this is also a fact, that Russian army has inducted just two rifles (AK-12 and AK-15)...So logic dictates that...

    Small arms of India

All Valid points .......Just that AK-15 is in 7.62x39, and not 5.45x39 :)....Just like AK-203...So even though AK-15 is lighter, it has to be a controllable rifle, otherwise Russian forces wouldn't have adopted it... AK -12 is in 5.45x39 and Russia has inducted both....Two rifles for two...

https://idsa.in/idsacomments/ak-203-make-in-india_chinoy-lkbehera-110319 The highlighted portion, perhaps provides the answer, of why India has finalized AK-203 over AK-15. There are few questions though : 1. AK-203 is an improved version of AK-103, and was supposed to be an Interim...

This info about Col Mahadik, comes as a complete surprise !!!....This has to be the same Col Mahadik of PARA SF, who was on deputation to RR, when he was martyred by terrorist bullets (as far as my information)......Then where is the info above coming from ???? and Does RR even use 9mm carbines ???

True ...It's a love or hate at first sight for most.... But it's the first choice of trained professionals by far ...out here in US and elsewhere too......Even a traditional army like that of UK have adopted Glock 17 recently(they used to use Browning earlier)....

LMT(in 7.62x51) is indeed one of the best platforms today, but in DMR category...and is heavier than HK 417 and SCAR17.......Also, it's direct impingement (atleast the DMR which Brits use)...but is very highly rated in NATO forces.... As per my knowledge, this contract is predominantly for...

    Small arms of India

Exactly my point.....I asked in a diffrent thread, why we see only INSAS and not M4s and Tavors in Siachen ? That means it's one of the MOST reliable small arms platforms in world....But it needs to continously updgrade ...and that is by incorporting the new features in new designs like HK 433...

Actually, i wasn't suggesting that this gun should be adopted by India...rather i posted it in response to the SIG 556 info...I am a big fan of INSAS 1C, but feel that the platform should continously evolve and borrow best design features from leading designs like these Just to share, just...

SIG 556 is indeed a superb weapon....But the new SIG MCX platform is an ultimate evolution of this rifle...It's very light, handy and very modular(handled one myself).... Many Police agencies in US and Europe have adopted it as well as the Dutch MARSOF...

    Small arms of India

As per my dicussions with some US Servicemen, the PKM was the most effective and feared weapon, in hands of the enemy in Afghanistan and Iraq...Very light and effective and mobile....One of the limitation of the PKM is that it uses a NON disintegrating belts which restricts mobility, unlike the...
