    Hindustan Trainer HTT-40

This is phenomenal. Every order of 50 or more such assets that we purchase, we send the right message to potential buyers. For starters, our cadets will actually live their dream of flying new aircraft rather than the rickety old ones.

Probably in 2023 budget this time. Seems like offensive weaponry would be a priority now. What's the chance that HAL can propose a foreign sale in the meanwhile? HTT-40 can be a cheap option for several small countries. There are many who'd like it to be a surveillance aircraft as well. I can...

IAF is still pretty archaic in its thinking. Don't assume that they'd know it just because they manage it. More and more countries are moving from high-end basic trainers directly to AJTs. jets in Kiran's category could be entirely done away with and saved that cost. HAL is 15 years late.

I think it would make sense to re-sell the PC-7s to, say, Bangladesh who has recently gotten a line of credit to import defense equipment from us. They are still relatively new and with a little refurbishment can serve them well. We should seriously go for the HTT-40. Why? Not just because...

    Hindustan Trainer HTT-40

Now it remains to be seen whether these will ever make it to the IAF or not. Chances of Pilatus buying off a few IAF officers is quite high given that they have tasted fresh Indian blood after the PC-7 deals. HAL should also contest for trainer competitions worldwide while giving HTT-40 demos...

Re: HAL pushes HTT-40 as light attack platform There is one way to sort this thing: 1- Give mandate to HAL that the HTT-40 should be induction ready by 2017 without any doubts. If they fail, they must scrap off this project and from their allocated budget, must pay the government...
