    N.W. India is a different story.. These are Gandhara(mostly Kushan period) reliefs. I have seen scale armor many times from them. Their soldier's layout, much like their culture, is a mix of Indian, Greek, etc.

    I'm sure they did take off the heavy bronze plates. The regular Indian soldiers pretty much wore something similar to what they wear outside the military. Some of the elites wore bronze scales.
