Do note, I am talking with my limited understanding of the subject. Its not like I have studied these topics formally, so viewer discretion advised. Members like @Bhadra @rvats and @mist_consecutive are more informed on these things.

GPS/NavIC guided but one line makes me think that they also want SAL guidance in addition to that. NavIC is good in the torrid zone (heard one gentleman say its better than GPS, which is more tuned for temperate zones). Sauce:- But its capability is degraded right now due to 3 out of 7...

Mechanization can only occur with a commensurate increase in logistics and repair units. Indian Army has around 345 Light or Mountain Infantry Battalions. Their strength lies in the fact that they are less dependent on logistics and less of a logistic strain. How protected their mobility will...

Started last year under Make II https://www.makeinindiadefence.gov.in/admin/webroot/writereaddata/upload/recentactivity/Final_EoI_TGM_01_Dec_2021.pdf Don't think anybody has a product completely developed as of yet.

And what about Chinese hitting us with their guided arty munitions? In any case, ISTAR is the most important component. Will be a while before we reach Excalibur levels. No. Kanpuropol. Its Indian.

M777 for US Army would cost around $3.5 Million. So a domestic Kalyani ULH for us would cost maybe around $3 Million. Dhanush is $2 Million. Not that big a difference. But more importantly, we won't need a 1:1 replacement of 105 by ULH due to infra upgrades, as I mentioned previously.

Would cost us 50% more per gun compared to Dhanush, at most. That is all. Yeah, its mildly expensive, but looking at the advantages, it might even be a necessary expense given how it simplifies war wastage reserves while increasing firepower of mountain arty. And its not like every 105 needs...

Ukrainian M777 becoming unservicable due to prolonged usage might have to do with shoddy maintenance by conscripts. Titanium and 155mm ULH design are both available within India. Other than that, advantages of 155 over 105 are numerous, but the biggest one is that or war wastage reserves now...

This news of all 105 being replaced by 155 is more than a decade old and was part of the field artillery rationalization plan. I think its got more to do with maintenance of war wastage reserves on a shoe string budget. So while the 105 mounted gun system is being given some attention, I am not...

That is actually a good thing. Because Dhanush is being opposed now, but after its entry into service becomes clear, it will become poster boy of dalals on how ToT is effective: "Bofors import gave us Dhanush or we couldn't have made such artillery" type arguments might be heard. ATAGS success...

So out of all these the differences that might be visible in Dhanush that could help one distinguish it from Bofors would likely be the systems: AGSS, MVR and AGAPS? But I couldn't make them out when I tried to tell Dhanush and Bofors apart from screen (maybe because I don't know what the...

After looking at both from all angles and noticing all the small noticeable features I can, I have concluded that there is NO difference between the two other than the barrel. Every ancillary part down to the placement of indicators and even breech block, muzzle brake, etc are the same. So...

I may be wrong, but I think the crane for Dhanush can hold four rounds and that for Bofors can hold three. So looking at the crane's end effector we should be able to tell. OK that is wrong too. They both have three-round capacity cranes.

@Mods @ezsasa @Indx TechStyle can we please ban this Pakistani clown from Indian threads? He is posting Pakistani artillery news in a thread that clearly states "Indian Army Artillery"

Yeah, a closer look does show how that rock is too rocky for artillery emplacement. So it is probably a showpiece or flex like you said. But in other cases, it does make sense to perch artillery atop such narrow ridge lines because enemy's counter-battery CEP increases drastically. Remember that...

Have no frickin clue how anyone can get that thing on that rock, unless it was helicopter. Its not an M777, and tbh it doesn't even look like the 105mm Indian Field Gun, but those are the only two choices based on where that thing is. So I'd go with the 105. Makes sense to place the gun there...

Yeah, that is what I said. WLR uses RCS. Slightly higher RCS of MLRS round but its delivering the same effect on target as multiple separate 155 rounds. Meaning that for former, WLR has one opportunity, while for the latter it has multiple opportunities to point the source. Oh c'mon. Shoot and...

How so when existence of a rocket motor and a guidance system means the round will follow anything but a ballistic trajectory? In fact, the MLRS can quickly discharge a larger number of rounds, each with a higher explosive or submunitions yield than a tube artillery can, making it both more...

Wait, Kalyani made arty ammo in Kargil!? News to me. Its not about the length. All up weight of the projectile would be limited by propelling charge, so you'd have to lower explosive filling to compensate for rocket/RAMJET weight. EDIT: You can compensate for that though, if you use more...
