    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

The very logic of any "Aryan" invasion or migration for that matter is nonsense. For that to happen, there must have been people identifying themselves as Aryan. Of the 5 lunar tribes of the Rig veda, only a sub- tribe i.e. the Bharatas of the Puru tribe called themselves aryan. Later it did...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

Tbh, a lot of this sounds like absolute crap. At least the conclusions do. I’m very wary of all this extrapolation from essentially limited data.

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

Interesting in today's context or even by later vedic times but early Rig veda is replete with praise of the Asuras, with many Gods being extolled as Asuras, case in point the above hymn to Agni.

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

In the Mahabharata, Sarasvati is already being recognised as drying up in places, its no longer the mighty river of old. Partially flowing but no longer the great river. That can also be noticed with the increased importance of Ganga as evidenced in the Mahabharata w.r.t. Bhishma. Sarasvati is...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

@Srinivas_K This particular point made by me is probably overstating the case and may be considered as withdrawn . It's in conflict with both your point and my own accepting that others too might have referred to themselves as Arya independently outside of the Rig veda which cannot be discounted.

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

I'm referring to only those references within the Rig veda itself. I have said it's very possible that the word Arya may have been used by other tribes independently but in the Rig veda ,when used in context of a specific people, its is used only to refer to the Puru/Bharatas. Probably because...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

That isn’t correct. The bulk of the Rig Veda (Mandalas 2-7) are known as family books, the family being the Bharatas. The Rig Veda is largely centred around the Bharatas, who are a subtribe of the Purus who are one of the 5 lunar tribes of the Rig Veda. In almost all occasions where “Arya” is...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

While true in later times; during the Rig Vedic period, it was used almost solely to describe the Bharatas though a couple of times that was used in context of close allies almost conferring them that honor.

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

Zero evidence of that. No place names, no river names. Anyways if Tamil existed at any point, certainly other Dravidian languages like Kannada, Tulu had also existed because their separation from what would have been proto Tamil-Kannada was early on (Telugu was in a a seperate branch and...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

For a guy who’s pretty recent on the forum, you seems interested in controversial issues and you take pretty much an provocative stance, be it national security or this. I wonder why that is. (Actually, that’s being kind. I know exactly why)

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

Couple of bones to pick here. Apart from the idea of “Aryans” entering here, this business of caste is wrongly interpreted. There is no evidence of caste in the Rig veda except for the infamous mention in the last/10th mandala widely accepted as an later interpolation. Hardly ubiquitous. The...

    Aryan Invasion Hypothesis

DNA evidence is not as clear as imagined. There is still plenty of unanswered questions and I would be very cautious jumping in one way or the other. There is almost zero archeological evidence for any invasion or even migration. Have people come from elsewhere? Sure but that has been the case...
