Don't know if these were posted/discussed before, but check out the indoor shooting range of NSG at Manesar: https://aimtrex.com/projects/composite-indoor-shooting-range-for-national-security-guard/ Go through the tech installed...It's pretty advanced. And 4 Para's shoothouse in J&K...

Believe me, the level of component expertise needed at the armoury level to even request such an upgrade does not exist in India anywhere. At most you might see individuals/units carry out upgrades on their own weapons with unit funds but any widespread program like SOPMOD Block-2 is not happening.

The time for HK416 is past. If we want the best available AR platform for our SFs, in today's world both the ARAD and the SIG MCX are far superior solutions.

Whoever it is that's lifting pics from this thread to post at r/SpecOpsArchive on Reddit, please don't. You may not realize it but you're making Indian SFs look like jokers.

That's a ITL N/SEAS night vision monocular in flip config, not a magnifier.

I guess that caught on more than I thought it would.

And they somehow manage to find & post pics of our SFs in the most joker-like poses & situations. But I think that's largely because they don't understand what is cringe & what isn't.

NSG are carrying forward the torch on that regard :cool1:

If we are serious about improving our night fighting capabilities, we need IR illuminators on our SF rifles. MOR doesn't come with illuminator which is a huge problem when you are operating somewhere that doesn't have any ambient light (indoors, inside tunnels etc.). Same problem with STING -...

Btw, another thing that can be extrapolated/inferred based on our choice of going toward short-stroke piston Arad is that we'll now be in a better position than ever to go heavily toward adoption of suppressors as standard equipment for every rifle in SF hands. We can (& did) put suppressors on...

I have considered the possibility (and it cannot be ruled out), however the reason I arrived at the conclusion I did was that while all other sensors which would still be of use in a SOF role like the multi-mode radar, EO/IR pod etc were procured in quantities that allowed all 24 ac to be fitted...

If they are following general tactics surrounding such VVIP protection, these are the overt positions - meant to draw the fire of any attacker who might decide to take them out before attacking the protectee. The real sniper teams would be hidden...they won't be standing out in the open...

Well tbh all 24 of them can be used for Special Operations if need be...it's just a matter of removing kit that you think is unneccesary for the mission. All the stuff like stub wings, sonobouy launchers, dunking sonars etc. are modular. Here's my tweet with original observations: So it...

I think this is the first Indian SOF op in recent times that got headlines across the world... https://edition.cnn.com/2024/03/19/india/india-pirate-ship-capture-intl-hnk-ml/index.html...

We'll see. If one of the SFs get it, you can pretty much count on the others to be interested as well. How do you think Tavors spread across all SFs so quick ;)

Para M4s are pretty old and haven't been upgraded, the handguards don't have a lot of real estate. They're perfectly 'fine' to use & will be for a long time, but SOFs shouldn't be operating by that logic - they're not infantry. A short-stroke piston design like the ARAD would considerably...

Namaskaaram Mitron. Been a while since I logged onto DFI. A lot of upgrades seem to have been inflicted upon our SOFs in the meantime...I'm seeing a rapid increase in number of PVS-31s in use by MARCOS in particular. And I've heard rumours (nothing solid yet) that the Paras are evaluating the...
