Calm down lad. This is defence forum and not a forum for romance book club. People frequenting here don't get twitchy seeing a severed head of an enemy or get their undies in twists because of some foul language. Yeah, it is desired that a person should maintain a decorum, but then some guys...

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

None of the aircraft C295 is envisaged to replace i.e. Avro or An 32 is used for moving vehicles. So I don't think that was part of consideration for selecting their replacement. Question is, do IAF even carry vehicles in regular basis? And if not, for the rare instances or emergencies...

Don't be so quick in banning somebody. Like it or not, it is always good to have a window to the otherside and such handles give us that window. These days we are too hasty in banning people, like the USAphile joker from Phillipines who had been in this forum for eons

Most likely. But, IAF has got too many other stuff to order and I would think budget may not permit them to order for more C130J and Chinooks right now.

Nirbhay on C295? Why the hell would we put CM on a medium cargo plane? How would we carry it? How will we deliver it? Do you think you can trust Russians? Don't be naive. In international diplomacy, no one trusts another. Heck, during cold war era KGB had more spies than CIA in India! Also it...

C295 isn't replacement of AN32s, but of Avro. However, save for few high altitude airbases, C295 wont have any problem whatsoever to operate from all other bases. But, for the few bases that are really on a height like Leh or some advance air strips where C295 might struggle like due to low...

A400M is better than Kawasaki C2 - more versatile, more in production and chances of future development and variants. C2 isn't in the same league as IL-76/78.

Well, frankly one hurdle down. But, the problem is that we need replacement of Il-76/78s in next few years and there simply isn't a suitable candidate for the role except another Russian IL-476. We missed the bus when both MoD and IAF bungled the C-17 procurement! What could possibly be the...

46 of the AN 32s that are in service has just got approved for upgrades and will serve for another few years. So, I guess once the delivery of these initial barch of 40 comes close to the end, new orders will be placed then. Unless of course, some wise ones in IAF or in MoD decides to stall again.

It is more than likely that C295 will also replace AN32s. Logic says it should. There's no point in diversifying maintenance into different platforms.

Indian Air Force: News & Discussions

Not quite true. It is a common consensus that IAF is indeed under-equipped for a two front war. It is not anything new that MoD is the primary roadblock to our defence preparedness. Just see what happens with most procurement processes. The Mirage2000 denied again and again and then after over...

If it is found that the aircraft crashed because of faulty avionics ( and damn straight it will be so as both the pilots were Sq. Leaders), not only the technicians and the scientists involved should be prosecuted, HAL itself should be dissolved. I have been a long time supporter of HAL, but...
